Emerson College
Was such a pleasure to have the Emerson College students at The Summit this week!
We started off camp with an incredible attitude and quickly changed from group one and two to the FRESH NANNIES (short for BANANAS) and the GUCCI GANG!
We had 5 keys that we would be focusing on all camp and they were PLAY ALL IN, HAVE FUN, GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE, MAKE LOTS OF MISTAKES AND DON’T GO HOME WONDERING WHAT IF.
We started off playing all in and having all the fun in the Inflatables activity and during the Flying Fox as we got a taste of what camp was going to be like. We then stepped it up a notch when we tackled the Bush Challenge and the High Wire.
These were awesome opportunities to step up as leaders in our groups and push ourselves to our limits with heights.
After that we were then ready for some more challenges with Orienteering and the Rock Wall.
We learnt so much about ourselves at Rock Wall, understanding that how far we thought we could climb wasn’t always as far as we could climb.
That afternoon we tackled the monster course and it was one of the first activity where our character was challenged as we had to choose how we wanted to respond to being cold and pushing even after we thought we had given everything.
The second day ended with everyone rushing off to have a warm shower and having a well deserved nights sleep. It was however the challenges of the first few days that allowed for the incredible efforts on the last day.
Tom and I were soon impressed to see all your efforts on the Abseil and Summit Window, you walked out with a great story to tell and new confidence in your abilities.
Thanks so much for a great camp.
Maddi and Tom.
