Lyndhurst Secondary College

It was great having year 8 students from Lyndhurst Secondary College at The Summit for their three day camp from Wednesday 20th to Friday 22nd.

Arriving to The Summit, the students were introduced to our 5 keys: have fun, play all in, make lots of mistakes, get comfortable being uncomfortable and don’t go home wondering what if.

Heading out to the park, we had the opportunity to get to know each other through some initiatives, then, straight into activities.

Our first activities for the day were Summit Window, Rock Wall and the Snowy River Challenge, where we saw some awesome teamwork, especially Ava, who went back and helped everyone on the balance beam.

Day 2 was upon us and we had set a morning intention of how we wanted our day to look. With a massive day planned, we had some new activities: Flying Fox, Inflatables and Orienteering, Abseil, Scavenger Hunt and Snake and Nails. The sun was out and it was very warm yet everyone was doing so well. Despite the heat, students were surely getting comfortable being uncomfortable. By the time the afternoon rolled over, everyone was ready for the much anticipated monster course and we set off in our tribes to set the quickest time along the course. After finishing the epic lap, the group was then told that we would be completing the course again and the winning team was the team that improved their first lap time by the most! Congratulations to every tribe who completed the course and improving their time.

The final day arrived and we started it off with some morning gratitude and thinking about things we are grateful for! Finishing off our final activities the groups then voted for a person who they thought lived camp the most by our 5 keys. Congratulations to our winners, Eleanor (Yeah The Girls), Jamie Lee (Springwaters) and Ava (The Stooges)
