On Wednesday, the year 7 to 10 Sports Academy kids from Alkira College made their way to The Summit. The day started with everybody learning about the Five Keys: Have Fun, Play All In, Make Lots of Mistakes, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable, and Don’t Go Home Wondering What If. After that, everyone learned about Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch; our goal-setting strategy for activities. After an initiative to get the teams warmed up and working together well, it was time to take on the big fun activities we had planned. The afternoon had everybody taking on two rotations of the Bush Challenge, Giant Swing, Cave, Rock Wall, Relay Challenge, and Abseil. It was really cool to see everybody working well in their coloured groups and having an absolute blast on day one.

Day two started with morning intentions and setting up the space to choose who we wanted to be for that day. With a wholehearted belief of 'win the morning, win the day, it was time to get out in the park, we had another three rotations before lunch of our activities. After lunch was when the competition really stepped up. We had a round of Tic-Tac-Toe: tribe versus tribe, to work out who the champions were. There were many great spills due to the slippery ground and many laughs. It was great to see all the teams cheering for each other. After our Tic-Tac-Toe, it was time to bring the big guns out for it was a Tug-of-War competition. The Tug-of-War competition had lots of slips and lots of big strong muscles. We had a big round-robin competition to work out who was the strongest team for Tug-of-War. We also had a special round of students versus teachers with the students absolutely demolishing the teachers, excellent job! One last competitive game before we took on the Monster Course, was Clap Ball. We had the top three people from each tribe in a head-to-head battle to see who the best team was at Clap Ball. Then it was the moment we’d all been waiting for: it was time for The Monster Course. This course was a special monster as we did even more than what we normally run with schools. We had everybody throwing things, catching things, pulling things, climbing through things, climbing over and under things, and in general, working together as an awesome team to get the job done. It was one of the most epic Monsters Course I’ve seen as it was a hard one, but everybody really dug deep and gave it their absolute best. Well done to everybody who completed the monster course.

Day three started similar to day one but we focused heavily on gratitude and being thankful for the things we have in our lives. It was really cool to hear from everybody all the different things that they were grateful for and how much of an impact they had those things had on their lives. Out in the park, we played another game before getting into the last rotation of our activities. One more round of new activities saw tribes doing the Leap of Faith, Tash's Ladder, laser Skirmish, Flying Fox, Inflatables, and the Sky Bridge. Suddenly before we knew it was the end of what was an incredibly epic camp. The results were tallied, scores were given, a few thank you's were given out, and one last chance for a group photo and then it was time to head to the buses.

Thank you to all the really awesome students from Alkira and the wonderful teachers. You guys really played all in and had so much fun it was an absolute pleasure working with you all.
