Belmont PS Year 5/6 Camp Blog

The Belmont PS year 5 and 6s were welcomed into The Summit on Wednesday the 22nd of May. Once the students were introduced to their coaches for the next couple of days and the useful information the coaches provided, the students were eager to get started on their 6 spectacular activities. The activities the students had the opportunity to participate in were; Rock Wall, the Bush Challenge, Flying Fox, Abseiling, Inflatable City, and Tash’s Ladder. On the first day, the tribes came together and had a chance to get creative as they made team flags and chants that would be presented on the last day of camp.

Throughout the camp, the tribes rotated through all their activities. However, during some of the activities, some students managed to push themselves and achieve some extraordinary things like Jess and Teddy managing to make it to the top of the over-hang wall, one using an interesting method to get over the last part and asking to use a coach on Tash’s Ladders foot to grip on to.

Also, some activities had a competitive element whether it be points or a timed challenge. Thankfully the results were saved and read out at the end of camp. Here are the full results:

Bush Challenge:

1st Cheeky Cherries with a time of 20:03

2nd Groovy Grapes with a time of 21:50

3rd Muscly Mangos with a time of 22:24

4th Wild Watermelons with a time of 27:07

5th Preppy Pineapples with a time of 27:37

6th Crazy Coconuts with a time of 33:57

Inflatables Race:

1st Cheeky Cherries with a time of 2:41

2nd Muscly Mangos with a time of 2:55

3rd Preppy Pineapples with a time of 3:01

4th Groovy Grapes with a time of 3:20

5th Crazy Coconuts with a time of 3:31

6th Wild Watermelons with a time of 3:44

Monster Course Improvement Times:

1st Crazy Coconuts with a time of 11:23

2nd Muscly Mangos with a time of 11:14

3rd Wild Watermelons with a time of 9:09

4th Preppy Pineapples with a time of 9:00

5th Groovy Grapes with a time of 8:07

6th Cheeky Cherries with a time of 3:21

Also on the last day of camp, the students voted for a person in their tribe who showed The Summit Five Keys the most. These keys are; Have Fun, Play all in, Make lots of Mistakes, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable and Don’t Go Home Wondering What If. The person with the most votes then became the Values winner. The winners were Heath from the Muscly Mangos, Milla from the Preppy Pineapples, Caitlin from the Crazy Coconuts, Jack from the Cheeky Cherries, Blake from the Groovy Grapes, and Jena from the Wild Watermelons.
