Coburg HS Year 11 Camp Blog

The Summit had the pleasure of having the year 11s and their teachers from Coburg High School for their final school camp. We are not sure who was more excited the students or the Summit staff to have you all here.

After the introductions, formalities and rules in the Lodge, it was time to venture out into the park to embrace the challenges ahead. After the first initiative, each team turned into a tribe with a tribe name to go with this change. Fiends, Jack Adams, Extraterrestrial (ET), Fien, Snaddens, Evacuate, Y Ant, Swoopers, Route 81, Up the Shanes and Rockets were all the tribe names.

With 11 groups and only three days to do as many activities as possible, not everyone got to do all activities. The activities were Giant Swing, Inflatables, Abseiling, Orienteering, Leap of Faith, Rock Wall, Laser Skirmish, Summit Window, Trust Games, Bag Blitz and Bush Challenge.

Here are the results from the group challenges.

Bush Challenge:

Y Ant = 28.14

Extraterrestrials (ET) = 26.52

Evacuate = 23.17

Fien = 21.31

Jack Adama = 21.06

Rockets = 20.01

Snaddens = 19.18

Fiends = 16.54 - WINNER!!!

Monster Course Improvement Times:

Y Ant = 3.33

Route 81 = 5.03

Fiends = 6.24

Up the Shanes = 7.21

Evacuate = 8.15

Snaddens = 9.13

Rockets = 10.00

Jack Adams = 10.34

Fien =11.07

Extraterrestrials (ET) = 13.32

Swoopers = 17.54 - WINNER!!!

Well done to everyone who put in a great effort during the Monster Course.

Throughout camp, so many of you wrote and had your GMICs read out. Great job to those who wrote or received a GMIC throughout camp.

At the end of camp, each tribe member voted for someone from their tribe who lived by and represented the Five Keys (Have Fun, Play All In, Make Mistakes, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable and Don’t Go Home Wondering What If) of camp. Congratulations to Zac, Jetroy Elia, Lucy, Sally, Amy, Luke, Reeche, Diago, Hunter, and Musti.
