Kurnai College Blog
Wow! What a way to finish term 2!
Ella, Cam, Logan, Centauri, Adam and our work experience student Josh, had the absolute privilege to lead the year 9/10s and teachers of Kurnai College.
Over their time at The Summit, each and every student unleashed their greatness and followed our Five Keys:
1. Have Fun
2. Play All In
3. Make Lots of Mistakes
4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
5. Don’t go Home Wondering What-If
Camp started with a massive game of Jockies, where you all proved that you were ready to have some fun and play all in! We soon met our new teams:
1. A-Team
2. MVP
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Shezzas
5. AB
Your teamwork improved so much from the beginning of the week until the end, for example, team 2 went from the “MVP No's to just the “MVP”s.
Our first rotations were the Leap of Faith, Inflatable City, Flying Fox, Rockwall and the Snowy River Challenge. Everybody started stepping out of their comfort zones by hitting their targets, stretches and super stretches!
Each morning started with reading out some GMICs. It was so cool to hear so many great moments of you all pushing your limits, special shout out to Cooper for being the MC and reading them out to the group.
We then set a daily intention, whether it was thinking of one, telling a friend or writing it down, in order to make sure we were making the most of camp and the most of our lives, deciding who we want to be and what we want to do. Adding in a touch of gratitude reflecting on everything we have to be grateful for. So many games were played throughout the week. Jockies, Huckle Buckle, Gotcha, Gumboot Bowling (where only a few could win against Ella), Tug of War and Markers Up at every morning/arvo tea. All the fun was had with a new set of rotations; Highwire, Trust Games, Abseil, Tash’s Ladder and the Scavenger Hunt. It was then time for our Monster Course! The mud was definitely flying! We not only completed the lap once but twice! This challenge pushed everyone outside of their comfort zones, in all different ways. However, you were all resilient and showed how strong and capable you are.
Throughout the camp, your awesome teachers ran some pretty epic night activities, from movie nights, hot chocolates, night walks and even a party!
Camp ended with the last set of rotations, the Summit Window, Snake and Nails, Sky Bridge, Orienteering and the Cave. All of your comfort zones had grown so much that these activities seemed not quite as scary.
A huge special mention to our values winners. These people were voted for living and breathing by our 5 keys and pushing beyond their comfort zones, from teams:
1. A Team – Kayla
2. MVP – Sarah
3. Kobe Bryant – Riley
4. Shezzas – Nick
5. AB – Declan and Jaz
You guys are superstars!
Thank you all so much for an epic week. All the fun was had and it was awesome seeing how much you all had grown.
Best of luck for the rest of the year!
All the respect from Ella, Cam, Logan, Centauri and Adam.
