Longwarry Primary School Camp Blog
What a fantastic week at The Summit with Longwarry Primary School. From the moment we met you we knew it was going to be an amazing experience. Our first interaction was to introduce ourselves and give you some introduction to The summit with a video, the Five Keys of Have Fun, Play All In, Make Lots of Mistakes, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable, and Don’t Go Home Wondering What If, and our Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch, information which everyone on camp so epically lived by.
We then broke into three groups, The Best Monkeys, The Big Jills, and The Cool Kids, and tackled some Initiatives, doing brilliantly at George (or Big Jill, as he was renamed), The Spider's Web, and Key Punch. Flying Fox, Inflatables, and Cave were our first full activities, and with so many fears faced in the Cave alone, the students knew they were in for an awesome few days. We then moved back up to our Tent Village to cement our Tribes with a Flag and chants created by each group.
Tuesday was the great unveiling of the team flags and the chants and they were AMAZING! Then we flew through the second and third rotation of our first activities before introducing our sky-high Summit Window, super shaky Sky Bridge, and Laser Tag, the favourite easily being the opportunity to run around and shoot each other with laser guns on our military-style course!
We then embarked on our epic Monster Course, undoubtedly the highlight of the week, and the students' work on the course was awesome, with everyone working so hard to get each other through it, with Hayden and Ayce especially showing how resilient they were on the second lap and Chace leading valiantly from the front! Ava was also incredibly inspirational leading her team and embracing the mud and the fun!
On the last day, we got to complete our last rotations of Sky Bridge, Summit Window, and Laser Skirmish, and then after some lunch, we gathered to read out the Monster results and reveal who the kids voted as the people to best represent our values or 5 Keys. Well done to Charlie, Zander, and Radd on being voted the Values winners, I hope you enjoyed your special sneak peek of our Army Tank, and thank you all so much for coming to the Summit. Below are your times for all the activities and our group photo.
From Rohan Emily, Liam, and myself, thank you all for an amazing few days. We can't wait to see your school back again next year.
