Montmorency Secondary College

From the 29th to the 31st of October, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the incredible Year 9 students from Montmorency Secondary College to The Summit for three unforgettable days of adventure, teamwork, and growth!

Right from the start, the focus for camp was clear — to respect others, strengthen communication, and rely on your team. These themes guided every challenge, activity, and moment shared across the three days.

Upon arrival, students met their enthusiastic coaching team — Cal, Mim, Sam, Lucy, and Lawrie — who introduced them to The Summit’s Five Keys and our powerful goal-setting strategy: Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch.

The Five Keys

Armed with these tools, the Montmorency crew set out to make the most of every opportunity — and they did just that!

Day One – Jumping In

The adventure kicked off with a mix of high-energy and courage-testing activities including:

  • Leap of Faith
  • Giant Swing
  • Tash’s Ladder
  • Cave
  • Snake & Nails
  • Inflatable City
  • Orienteering

Every rotation brought laughter, teamwork, and plenty of personal breakthroughs as students learned to trust themselves and each other.

As the sun went down, the evening came alive with a Minute to Win It competition followed by a creative Newspaper Fashion Show, where students strutted their handmade designs to the cheers of their peers and the laughter of their teachers. The night finished on a hilarious note with a Moose Fight, where buckets of chocolate mousse turned into an epic (and very messy!) showdown!

Day Two – The Monster Within

Day Two was all about resilience, teamwork, and pushing past limits. After completing their final rotations, it was time for the much-anticipated Monster Course — a muddy, wet, and exhilarating obstacle challenge that tested strength, communication, and determination.

After their first lap, coaches shared an important message about getting back up and giving your all, even when things get tough. Then, it was time to go again — not to race others, but to beat their own previous time. The second lap became a true celebration of perseverance, teamwork, and improvement!

The evening wrapped up with a powerful Belief & Mindset session, where students explored how belief drives behaviour. Each student then had the chance to break a wooden board, symbolising the moment they overcame self-doubt and discovered their own inner strength. The energy, pride, and emotion in the room were unforgettable.

Final Day – Gratitude & Growth

On the final morning, the group gathered one last time to reflect on everything they had achieved — the fears faced, the friendships strengthened, and the lessons learned. The session focused on gratitude, encouraging students to appreciate how far they’d come and the people who supported them along the way.

By the end of camp, Montmorency’s students had well and truly lived out their goals — showing respect, communicating with purpose, and discovering the power of true teamwork.
