Norwood Secondary College

On Monday 18th August 2025, the Year 8s of Norwood Secondary College rolled through The Summit gates, buzzing with energy and ready for adventure! After settling into their accommodations, the group gathered in the Lodge where Coach Spinks (Steph) introduced the coaching team. Coach Mim then revealed the secret recipe for the best camp ever — The Five Keys — and the excitement for the next three days officially kicked off!

The Five Keys

Activities & Tribe Names

Students were shown how to harness up safely by Sam and Lucy, and Coach Cal introduced Target–Stretch–Super Stretch, a strategy to help everyone grow their comfort zones and achieve more than they thought possible.

The activities across camp included: Abseil, Bush Challenge, Leap of Faith, Snowy River Challenge, Inflatables, Giant Swing, Sky Bridge, High Wire, Rockwall, Bag Blitz, Cave, and Laser Skirmish.

Tribes then came together to create unique names that carried them through camp:

  • Group 1
  • The Chrissy’s
  • The Terminators
  • The Norbits
  • 4167
  • Alecino
  • Haybale
  • 12 Chocy Cookies
  • 9 Backwards
  • Goldie Locks
  • 41 Hairy Unicorns
  • Koolaid Monckeys

Day One – Settling In & First Challenges

After arrivals, safety briefings, and two activity rotations, the tribes jumped straight into camp life. Students bonded over their tribe names, set intentions, and began collecting GMICs (Great Moments in Camp) — small wins and funny memories that capture the spirit of The Summit.

Day Two – Intention, Action & The Monster Run

Day Two began with a session on Morning Intention — focusing on what’s within our control and the power of our words. A lively game of Jockeys got everyone moving before tackling three activity rotations.

After lunch came another activity before the main event: the legendary Monster Run. Teams powered through mud, obstacles, and plenty of laughs — only to learn that the real winners weren’t the fastest, but those who showed the biggest improvement on their second lap. The effort, teamwork, and resilience were incredible!

Final Day – Gratitude & Strong Finish

On the final morning, coaches led a moving Gratitude Session, challenging students to reflect on who and what they were most thankful for. With hearts full, the tribes jumped into their last two activities of camp.

Before departure, each tribe voted for their Values Winner — a teammate who best embodied the Five Keys. These legends were rewarded with the ultimate thrill: Tank Time!
