On an eventful Tuesday morning, 25th August, The Summit welcomed the students and teachers of BlendED Saints College, ready for two action-packed days of challenge, connection and plenty of fun!
Students were welcomed into the Lodge by Coaches Spinks, Timmay and Simon, who introduced the group to The Summit’s recipe for the best camp ever: The Five Keys. With the mindset locked in, it was time to get stuck into everything camp had to offer!
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Day One – Action, Adventure & The Monster Course
Over morning tea, Spinks and Simon taught everyone how to correctly put on their helmets and harnesses, while Timmay introduced an epic goal-setting strategy—Target, Stretch and Super Stretch. This strategy encouraged students to keep growing their comfort zones and take on challenges they may not have thought possible.
The students launched into their first two activity rotations, taking on an awesome mix of challenges:
- Flying Fox
- Laser Skirmish
- Snowy River Challenge
Each activity brought its own challenges, testing bravery, teamwork, support, trust, creativity and problem-solving.
After lunch and a quick chance to settle into their accommodation, the group headed down to The Hub for two more rotations. This time, students took on:
- Giant Swing
- Leap of Faith
- Inflatables
There was plenty of courage on display as students stepped outside their comfort zones, backed each other up and gave new challenges a go.
And then it was time for the big one…
The Monster Course
With all three groups combining to become Team BlendED, the students lined up to take on the famous Monster Course!
The course tested everything from teamwork and strength to resilience and determination. After completing their first lap, the students were hit with a surprise—they had another lap to go!
With no time to prepare, Team BlendED had to dig deep, reset their mindset and get straight back into it. And what an effort it was!
The first lap was completed in 21:41, before the team stormed through their second lap in just 12:08.
That’s a massive improvement of 9 minutes and 33 seconds! 🔥
An incredible display of teamwork, resilience and the willingness to keep pushing when things got tough.
Final Day – Gratitude, Courage & Tank Time
As the final day rolled around, plenty of GMICs (Great Moments In Camp) were read out, celebrating the awesome moments, breakthroughs and memories created throughout camp.
Timmay then led the students through a meaningful Gratitude Session, encouraging them to think about who they were grateful for and what they appreciated. Students were given the opportunity to share their reflections, creating a great moment of connection before the final activities.
With two more rotations to complete, the challenge was simple: don’t go home wondering ‘what if’!
The students headed out for their final activities, checking back in with themselves and giving those last challenges everything they had.
🏅 Values Winners & Tank Time
To finish camp, students voted for someone from their tribe who they felt had best represented and embodied The Five Keys throughout their time at The Summit.
These students showed the courage to have a go, supported their teammates, embraced mistakes and stepped outside their comfort zones.
As a reward, the Values Winners were treated to a hot lap in The Summit Army Tank, while their friends and teammates cheered them on!
And the Values Winners were:
- Grimmus – Sam
- True Blue Rambos – Lukas
- Green Beans – Seth
A huge congratulations to Sam, Lukas and Seth for living out the Five Keys and helping make camp such a memorable experience!
