On Wednesday Oct 7th, we welcomed the second group from Northcote High School to The Summit for three days packed with adventure, teamwork, personal growth and plenty of opportunities to step outside comfort zones! With coaches Cal, Mim, Jeff, Monty, Ant, Canada and Will alongside them, students took on new challenges, supported their teammates and discovered what they were capable of.

Throughout camp, students were encouraged to embrace The Summit’s Five Keys:

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If”

Students also explored our Target, Stretch and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, learning how to set achievable goals while continuing to challenge themselves. With the foundations set, it was time to jump into the action!

Day One – Let the Adventures Begin

Our first day kicked off with an introduction to the Five Keys and goal-setting before students headed into their activity rotations. There were plenty of opportunities to test courage, develop teamwork and discover new strengths.

    Activities included:

    • Jump Free
    • Leap of Faith
    • Giant Swing
    • High Wire
    • Snowy River Challenge
    • Orienteering
    • Inflatable City

From testing their courage at height to working together to solve problems, students embraced the chance to challenge themselves and support one another. Whether they were tackling something new or encouraging a teammate to take the next step, the Five Keys were already coming to life!

Day Two – Teamwork, Tug of War & Mud

We started the morning by exploring the importance of setting an intention and approaching the day with clear goals. Students were encouraged to think about what they wanted to achieve and how their actions could help them get there.

After getting everyone moving with a game of Jockeys, students continued their activity rotations, putting their goal-setting strategies into practice and finding new ways to challenge themselves.

    Tug of War

After lunch, the competitive spirit came out for a team-versus-team game of Tug of War!

Success wasn’t just about strength. It was about working together, encouraging one another and pulling in the same direction. A great reminder that when everyone plays their part, a team can achieve so much more.

    The Mud Run

To finish the day, students took on the Mud Run...not once, but twice!

The second run gave everyone another opportunity to push through muddy obstacles, persevere when things got tough and experience the value of giving something another go. It was a fantastic chance to put the Five Keys into action, especially Make Lots of Mistakes and Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable.

Sometimes, the biggest achievement isn’t getting it right the first time. It’s being willing to get back out there and try again.

Final Day – Gratitude, Reflection & Celebrations

Our final morning began with a conversation about gratitude and recognising the people, opportunities and experiences we appreciate in our lives.

Students then headed down to the park for a game of Huckle Buckle before returning to their activity rotations for one final chance to challenge themselves, work together and make lasting memories.

To wrap up Camp 2, we celebrated the students who embodied The Summit’s values and recognised the teams’ competition results. It was a fantastic way to finish three days of adventure, growth and teamwork!

    Thank You, Northcote High School!

A huge thank you to everyone at Northcote High School for bringing your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to give things a go to The Summit.

Across three days, students challenged themselves, supported one another and created memories we hope they will carry with them long after camp. From the heights of our adventure activities to the muddy challenges and team competitions, there were so many opportunities to grow, learn and discover what is possible when you Play All In.

We hope everyone heads home feeling proud of what they achieved, ready to take on new challenges and remembering to never go home wondering, “What if?”
