On Monday, 5th October, the Year 8 students from Northcote High School arrived at The Summit, ready for three days packed with challenge, connection, teamwork and plenty of fun!

With six groups and a huge program ahead, the energy was high from the get-go. After settling in and enjoying a self-catered lunch, everyone came together to learn about The Summit’s Five Keys and set themselves up for an unforgettable camp experience.

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If”

With the mindset set, students worked through the Target, Stretch and Super Stretch goal-setting framework before harnessing up and heading into their first activity rotations.

    Activities & Tribe Names

Six groups spread across the site, taking on a range of challenges, including:

    • Jump Free
    • Snowy River Challenge
    • Leap of Faith
    • Orienteering
    • Giant Swing
    • Inflatables
    • High Wire

There was no shortage of opportunities to try something new, back themselves and encourage their teammates.

By dinner, the GMICs (Great Moments In Camp) were already flowing, with students recognising the people who had pushed through the High Wire, cheered each other down the Leap of Faith or stepped outside their comfort zones.

It was an awesome start to camp, and there was plenty more to come!

Day Two – Intentions, Tribe Challenge & The Monster Course

Day Two kicked off with Morning Intentions and Gratitude, giving students the chance to think about how they wanted to show up for themselves and their teammates.

With intentions set, it was time for another full round of activity rotations, giving every group the opportunity to experience more of what The Summit has to offer.

The afternoon brought the Tribe Challenge, bringing all six teams together for a whole-group session filled with teamwork, friendly competition and plenty of energy.

Then came the moment everyone had been building towards…

    The Monster Course

    The Monster Course was here!

All six groups hit the course, putting their teamwork, communication and determination to the test.

Lucy’s Sheds set the standard with an incredible time of 9:03, the fastest run of camp! The Stellodys followed in 11:52, with The Summit Stretchers Rainbow close behind in 13:36.

It was a huge effort from all six Tribes, with everyone getting involved and giving the challenge their best shot.

Final Day – Snowy River, Tug of War & Tribe Votes

The final day brought the last activity rotations and two more competitive events: the Snowy River Challenge and Tug of War.

The Snowy River Challenge tested teamwork and determination, with Levons Group claiming the top spot in an impressive 16:19.

Lucy’s Sheds came in second at 24:24, while The Legendary Alfa Unicorns rounded out the top three in 27:58.

The Tug of War brought another burst of competitive energy, with The Summit Stretchers Rainbow taking first place, The Stellodys finishing second and Lucy’s Sheds taking third.

With the competitions complete, it was time for Tribe Votes, the final camp debrief and a celebration of the students who had embodied The Summit’s Five Keys throughout the three days.
