On Monday, 12th October, the students from Port Melbourne Secondary College arrived at The Summit, ready for three days of adventure, teamwork and personal growth!
From taking on new challenges and pushing past their comfort zones to building resilience and celebrating their achievements, the group embraced everything The Summit had to offer.
After settling into their accommodation, the students met Coaches Sam, Monty, Spinks, Liv and Cal, who introduced The Summit's Five Keys.
THE FIVE KEYS
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
- Don't Go Home Wondering "What If"
The group also explored the Target, Stretch and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, learning the importance of setting challenges for themselves and having a go, even when things felt a little daunting.
Target — what you know you can do.
Stretch — what you think you can do.
Super Stretch — what you think is impossible.
ACTIVITIES & TRIBE NAMES
Then it was straight into the action! The tribes rotated through a range of activities, including:
- Leap of Faith
- Bush Challenge
- Summit Window
- Laser Skirmish
- Sky Bridge
- Inflatable City
Every activity was a chance to build confidence, support their teammates and discover what they were capable of when they stepped outside their comfort zones.
The five tribes for camp were:
- Gary
- Two Can
- 3D
- GG
- GS5
DAY TWO – THE MONSTER COURSE & INTENTIONS
Day Two kicked off with one of The Summit's biggest challenges…
The students took on the legendary Monster Course, not once, but TWICE!
Getting covered in mud was all part of the fun, but the real goal was to build resilience, embrace the challenge and keep going when things got tough.
And the twist? The winning team isn't the fastest, it's the team that improves the most on their second run!
For the rest of the day, the group explored the power of intentions, thinking about how they wanted to approach challenges, treat the people around them and make the most of their time at camp. Whether they were encouraging a teammate, trying something new or giving an activity another go, every moment was a chance to put their intentions into action.
FINAL DAY – GRATITUDE, REFLECTION & TANK TIME
On the final day, the students turned their attention to gratitude, taking time to reflect on the people, experiences and opportunities they had appreciated throughout camp.
After three days of adventure, it was the perfect chance to recognise how far they had come and celebrate the moments that made camp special.
Camp wrapped up with a reflection on the whole journey, revisiting the Five Keys and celebrating the students who had lived them best.
To finish in true Summit style, the values winners were rewarded with an unforgettable victory lap in The Summit's very own Army Tank. What a way to celebrate an incredible few days!
