On Monday, 12th October, 20 Year 9 students from Rochester Secondary College arrived at The Summit, ready for three days of challenge, growth and some serious fun!

It was a tight-knit group, with Coaches Simon and Christopher in their corner for the whole camp.

After settling in and enjoying a self-catered lunch, the afternoon kicked off with an introduction to The Summit's Five Keys.

    THE FIVE KEYS

    • Have Fun
    • Play All In
    • Make Lots of Mistakes
    • Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    • Don't Go Home Wondering "What If"

Next came goal setting, using the Target, Stretch and Super Stretch framework.

Target — what you know you can do.

Stretch — what you think you can do.

Super Stretch — what you think is impossible.

    ACTIVITIES & TRIBE NAMES

The two tribes for camp were:

    • Bet It All on Black
    • Shelly Dinkx

With their goals set, both tribes hit the Giant Swing and The Cave for their first rotations of camp.

Across the three days, the tribes took on:

    • Giant Swing
    • The Cave
    • Rock Wall
    • Snakes & Nails
    • Abseiling
    • Snowy River Challenge
    • Jump Free
    • Flying Fox

DAY TWO – INTENTIONS, GRATITUDE & THE MONSTER COURSE

Day Two was the biggest of the three!

After Morning Intentions and Gratitude, both tribes worked through a full day of rotations, taking on the Rock Wall, Snakes & Nails, Abseiling and the Snowy River Challenge across the morning and early afternoon.

Then, after lunch and a quick change of clothes, it was time for one of The Summit's biggest challenges…

    THE MONSTER COURSE

Both tribes hit the legendary Monster Course!

Shelly Dinkx stormed around in 8:16, taking the win with a time that held, while Bet It All on Black finished in 10:29.

It was a different story in the Snowy River Challenge, where Bet It All on Black turned the tables with the faster time of 22:40, and Shelly Dinkx close behind at 29:11.

FINAL DAY – JUMP FREE, FLYING FOX & TRIBE VOTES

The final morning brought Jump Free and the Flying Fox, before Tribe Votes, the final camp debrief and a group photo.

With a group this tight, it made sense that both tribes finished with two Values Winners each. These four students were nominated for the way they showed up for their teammates and embodied The Summit's Five Keys across all three days.

🏅 AND THE VALUES WINNERS ARE:

    • Bet It All on Black – Aydin and Grace
    • Shelly Dinkx – Hugh and Zyra

    🏆 COMPETITION RESULTS

    THANK YOU, ROCHESTER SECONDARY COLLEGE!

To Melissa and the Rochester Secondary College teaching team, thank you for bringing such a genuine and enthusiastic group to The Summit.

And to all 20 Year 9 students, thank you for pushing your limits, backing each other and heading home without a single "What If". It was a pleasure having you, and we hope to see you back!
