On Monday 18th February, the Year 9 students from Grovedale College rolled through The Summit gates with excitement buzzing through the bus. Bags were dropped, rooms were claimed, and before long the energy was building in the Lodge as students met their coaching crew—Mim, Chris, Lucy, Spinks, Christopher and Cal—ready to lead them on three unforgettable days of growth, grit and good times.
Before launching into the action, everyone was introduced to the mindset that makes Summit camps legendary…
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Students also unpacked our powerful goal-setting strategy: Target, Stretch, Super Stretch. A Target is something you know you can do. A Stretch is something you think you can do. A Super Stretch? That’s the one that feels almost impossible. And that’s where the magic happens.
With helmets fitted, harnesses checked and mindsets locked in—it was time to go.
Activities & Tribe Names
From the very first rotation, Grovedale came ready to Play All In.
Across the three days, students tackled:
- Giant Swing
- Snowy River Challenge
- Sky Bridge
- Summit Window
- Leap of Faith
- Laser Skirmish
- Strategy Games
- Jockeys
Courage was tested high above the ground. Teamwork was put to the test in muddy obstacles. Focus, balance and resilience were stretched in ways that pushed comfort zones wide open.
By the end of Day One, each group had officially claimed their Tribe identity:
- Pink Fluffy Unicorns
- Monkey See, Monkey Do
- No Name
- Fantastic Four
- Flat Irons
- Paw Patrol
And just like that, six tribes were born—each with their own energy, humour and competitive fire.
Day Two – Intention & Monster Energy
Day Two kicked off bright and early with Coach Spinks leading a powerful conversation about intention. Who do you want to be today? Not by accident. Not by chance. But by choice.
With that mindset locked in, the tribes rotated through four activities before facing the mud-filled challenge that would test everything they’d learned…
The Monster Course
At first, students thought they were racing each other.
But the real competition? Themselves.
After completing one full lap of the Monster Course—cargo nets, mud pits, sled pulls and all—they discovered the twist. The winner wouldn’t be the fastest team.
It would be the team with the biggest improvement time on their second lap.
And suddenly, grit mattered more than speed.
The second lap wasn’t just physical—it was mental. It was resilience. It was Super Stretch in action.
Mud-covered, exhausted and smiling ear to ear, each tribe crossed the finish line stronger than when they started.
Final Day – Gratitude & Goodbyes
As the final morning arrived, the pace slowed just enough for reflection.
Coaches Mim and Cal led a powerful session on gratitude—reminding students to pause and appreciate the people and opportunities that shape their lives.
Afterwards, the group headed to the airfield for a high-energy game of Jockeys before diving into their final activity rotations. Laughter echoed across the field as Strategy Games wrapped up the competitive side of camp—quick thinking, teamwork and a bit of clever deception all in play.
Tribe Reflections & Tank Time
Before heading home, each tribe gathered to vote for their Values Winner—someone who truly embodied The Five Keys throughout camp.
These legends demonstrated courage, encouragement, resilience and a commitment to Playing All In.
🏅 Values Winners:
- Pink Fluffy Unicorns – Kurt
- Monkey See, Monkey Do – Hamish
- No Name – Jesse
- Fantastic Four – James
- Flat Irons – Ellian
- Paw Patrol – Bradley
Each Values Winner received a medal to take home—a reminder of who they were at camp and who they’re capable of being back at school.

Thank You, Grovedale College!
Grovedale, you showed up with courage, humour and heart. You climbed higher than you thought you could. You ran harder than you expected. You supported each other through mud, fear and every Super Stretch moment in between.
On behalf of Coaches Mim, Chris, Lucy, Spinks, Christopher and Cal—thank you for an epic three days.
Keep choosing intention. Keep getting uncomfortable. Keep Playing All In.
And most importantly…
Don’t go home wondering “What If.”
