Marymede Catholic College

On a hot Monday afternoon, 16th February 2026, the Year 7 students and teachers from Marymede Catholic College rolled through The Summit gates buzzing with excitement and ready to dive in. After settling into their accommodations and catching their breath, they gathered in the Lodge where the energy lifted even higher—it was time to kick off three epic days of challenge, courage and connection.

Coach Spinks welcomed everyone and introduced the coaching team, sharing The Summit’s secret recipe for the best camp ever… and it all starts with the Five Keys.

The Five Keys

From there, the group headed to the Activity Hub for their helmet and harness safety brief with Mim and Lucy, before Sam introduced our powerful goal-setting strategy: Target, Stretch, Super Stretch.

  • Target – What you know you can do
  • Stretch – What you think you can do
  • Super Stretch – What feels almost impossible

The students even put it into practice with a game of 50-Up, setting their own goals and immediately stepping outside their comfort zones.

And just like that… camp was officially underway.

Activities & Tribe Names

With 16 groups split across two rotations, the action began.

Group A (1–8) took on:

  • Leap of Faith
  • Bush Challenge
  • High Wire
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Giant Swing
  • Cave
  • Summit Window
  • Inflatables

Group B (9–16) tackled:

  • Bag Blitz
  • Snowy River Challenge
  • Rock Wall
  • Orienteering
  • Jump Free
  • Laser Skirmish
  • Abseiling
  • Flying Fox

Students launched into their first two activity rotations with incredible energy—climbing higher, jumping further, problem-solving faster and supporting each other every step of the way.

By the end of Day One, each group had created their Tribe Name, officially becoming a team united by laughter, courage and friendly competition.

They were also introduced to one of The Summit’s favourite traditions—GMICs (Great Moments In Camp)—a way to recognise the small wins, brave moments and standout efforts that make camp so powerful.

And to finish the night? The Summit Disco.

Lucy, Cal and Liv turned up the music and the party lights, and the dance floor came alive. Singing, laughing and full send dance moves—it was the perfect way to wrap up Day One.

Day Two – Intention & Monster Energy

Day Two began with an important conversation around Morning Intention. Students explored the power of focusing on what they can control—their attitude, their effort and their words.

After setting their intentions for the day, the group headed to the park for a game of Jockeys to get the blood pumping before launching into three massive activity rotations.

Even with mixed weather, Marymede students powered through. They smashed goals, embraced the mud, and leaned fully into their Stretch and Super Stretch moments.

Then came the main event…

The Monster Course

After lunch and a safety brief, the countdown began.

The teams took off on their first lap of The Summit’s legendary Monster Course—a test of teamwork, strength and resilience.

But here’s the twist…

The winners wouldn’t be the fastest team.

The winners would be the team with the biggest improvement time on their second lap.

Suddenly, mindset mattered more than speed.

Each team set their Target, Stretch and Super Stretch and launched into Lap Two with grit and determination. Mud-covered and exhausted, they pushed harder than they thought possible—proving just how capable they really are.

Showers, dinner and a well-earned rest followed a huge day of growth.

Final Day – Gratitude & Goodbyes

As the final morning rolled around, Lucy led a powerful gratitude session at the stage. Students were asked to reflect on who or what makes them feel thankful—encouraging them to pause and appreciate the people and opportunities in their lives.

A warm-up round of Jockeys got everyone moving before the final two activity rotations. Students were challenged to “check back in” and finish strong—no coasting, no holding back.

As camp wrapped up, Cal revealed final results and shared thank yous before one last group photo and handover back to teachers.
