Maribyrnong College returned to The Summit in 2026 with fresh faces, big energy and a determination to make this camp one to remember. From the moment they met their coaches, Simon and Lucy, the tone was set — this was going to be fast-paced, competitive and full of heart.
They kicked things off with a full-group game of “50 Up”… and let’s just say, 50 didn’t quite cut it. The ball stayed up for an incredible 116 hits! An early sign that this group knew how to work together and bring the energy.
The teams were divided by colour and mascot, and it didn’t take long for their identities to form:
- 🔴 Marbie Flame
- 🔵 Corn
Game on.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
These keys guided every challenge, every debrief, and every moment of growth across the three days.
Day One – Teamwork from the Start
The first challenge, Treasure and Tiles, had both teams strategising hard and moving as one. Sophie and Connor stepped up to retrieve the treasure chest, helping secure early wins for their teams.
After one final activity, the group headed back to refuel and recharge — knowing a huge day was ahead.
Day Two – Intention, Competition & Obstacle Mayhem
The morning began with intention setting. Students wrote down what they wanted to focus on for the day — leaving it in the stadium as a reminder to check back and hold themselves accountable.
A high-energy game of Huckle Buckle got everyone moving, with Cooper and Leon taking out the win through teamwork and speed. Then it was straight back into activities:
- Laser Skirmish
- High Wire
- Giant Swing
- Snowy River Challenge
Fear wasn’t a factor on the High Wire — almost everyone made it to the middle, and some even lay down! Sakura pushed through nerves to hit her Super Stretch, while Lenny’s relief after conquering the Snowy balance log was unforgettable.
Snowy River Challenge Results
- 17:20 – Corn (after shaving a minute off with the wombat hole!)
- 18:10 – Marbie Flame
That gave Corn the edge heading into the main event…
The Monster Course – Obstacle Mayhem
Over twenty obstacles. Seven car tyres to carry. Nearly an hour of digging deep.
Obstacle Mayhem was the ultimate test of determination — the school’s core value in action.
Initial Lap Times:
- Marbie Flame – 57:29
- Corn – 54:02
But this wasn’t about staying divided. At halftime, the teams were brought together — united as one whole school for Lap Two.
Full Team Time:
- 53:10
A whole-school victory. One team. One effort. One epic achievement.

Final Day – Gratitude & Courage
Day Three began with gratitude — a reminder to appreciate the opportunity, the friendships, and the challenges faced together.
After a chaotic (and strategic!) game of Food & Water — with Nate crowned the final survivor — it was time for two final challenges:
- Sky Bridge
- Timmay’s Tower
Liz led from the front, stepping confidently onto the bridge first. Rishi accepted Coach Simon’s mid-bridge fall challenge. And Evan, with Coach Lucy by his side, mustered tremendous courage to take that final step from the tower.
This is what getting uncomfortable looks like.
🏅 Hero & Heart Awards
Chosen by their peers, these legends embodied both The Summit’s Five Keys and Maribyrnong’s core values:
🔴 Marbie Flame
- Hero: Aarav
- Heart: Ava
🔵 Corn
- Hero: Rishi
- Heart: Zodia
Leadership. Courage. Encouragement. Team spirit.
