Mirboo North Secondary College – Year 9 Camp 2026

The students from Mirboo North Secondary College arrived at The Summit full of enthusiasm and ready to get moving. After meeting their coaches and settling into camp life, it was straight down to the park where the adventure began. Over the next three days, students would challenge themselves, strengthen friendships, and discover just how much they were capable of when they embraced every opportunity that came their way.

The Five Keys

Throughout camp, students were encouraged to live by The Summit’s Five Keys:

These keys guided every activity, challenge, and opportunity for growth across the three days.

Day One: Activities & Tribe Names

To kick things off, the group completed a series of initiative challenges designed to build teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

These included:

  • Halfpipe – guiding a golf ball into a bucket using halfpipe pieces
  • Tiles – working together to cross from one side to the other
  • George – a creative version of Red Light, Green Light where teams had to return George to the starting point

The students quickly discovered that success would come through communication, trust, and working together as a team.

Next came the creation of their tribe identities, with each group choosing a unique name:

  • Smiling Face Emoji
  • Pizza Hut
  • Jr

With tribe names locked in, students launched into their first activity rotations:

  • Bush Challenge
  • Sky Bridge
  • Flying Fox

From navigating teamwork challenges to stepping out over the lake on the Sky Bridge and soaring through the trees on the Flying Fox, the students embraced every opportunity to challenge themselves and support one another.

Day Two – Intention & Monster Energy

The second day began with a Morning Intention session, giving students the chance to reflect on how they wanted to approach the day ahead. With intentions set, everyone headed to the park for a game of Huckle Buckle to get energised and ready for another big day.

Students continued working through their activity rotations before moving on to a brand-new set of challenges:

  • Bag Blitz
  • Inflatables
  • Rock Wall

Whether they were launching themselves from towers, racing through obstacle courses, or scaling climbing walls, the students consistently stepped outside their comfort zones and gave everything a go.

After lunch, it was time for the Tribe Challenge—a classic tug-of-war battle.

The competition was fierce, with plenty of determination, cheering, and teamwork on display. While the challenge was highly competitive, it also served as the perfect warm-up for what was still to come.

The Monster Course

As the afternoon rolled on, students prepared themselves for one of the biggest highlights of camp—the legendary Monster Course.

Also known as the Mud Run, this challenge tested resilience, teamwork, determination, and grit. Despite the cold weather and muddy obstacles, the students threw themselves into the challenge with enthusiasm and energy.

Rather than being intimidated by the mud, they embraced it, proving exactly what it means to Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable.

Final Day – Gratitude & Goodbyes

The final morning began with a Gratitude session, encouraging students to reflect on their experiences, friendships, and achievements throughout camp. It was a meaningful opportunity to recognise how much they had grown over the past three days.

After a fun game of Rock, Paper, Scissors Chant, students headed out for their final activity rotations and made the most of every remaining moment at The Summit.

Tribe Reflections & Values Winners

As camp drew to a close, students reflected on everything they had achieved and celebrated the people who had consistently demonstrated The Summit’s Five Keys.

The following students were recognised by their peers and teachers as Values Winners for their leadership, participation, positivity, and willingness to Play All In:

🏅 Values Winners:

  • Marlon
  • Lucas
  • Seth

These students embodied the spirit of camp and set a fantastic example for those around them.
