On the 25th of May, the Year 5 and 6 students from St Mary’s Primary School arrived at The Summit ready for three days of adventure, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. After settling into their bungalow village accommodation, the students gathered at the Stadium where they met their coaches—Fish, Canada, and Jeff—and were introduced to the mindset that would guide their entire camp experience.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
The students were also introduced to The Summit’s Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, helping them break big challenges into achievable steps while encouraging them to push beyond what they thought was possible. A game of Fifty Up gave everyone the chance to put this strategy into action straight away.
Day One: Activities & Tribe Names
With helmets fitted, harnesses checked, and goals set, it was time to launch into the adventure.
The first set of activities included:
- Sky Bridge
- Bush Challenge
- Flying Fox
Students quickly discovered that camp was about much more than completing activities—it was about working together, encouraging each other, and embracing every challenge with a positive attitude.
Following their first activity rotation, students came together for Tribe Identity, creating team flags that would represent their groups throughout the rest of camp. The three tribes proudly became:
- Crocinators
- Bush Chickens
- Trees
The flags, team names, and group spirit helped create a strong sense of belonging and teamwork from the very beginning.
To finish the day, students learned about one of The Summit’s favourite traditions—GMICs (Great Moments In Camp)—where coaches and students celebrate the courageous, funny, and memorable moments that make camp so special.
Day Two – Intention & Monster Energy
Day Two began with a Morning Intention session led by Fish. Students reflected on the importance of choosing how they wanted to show up for the day and focusing on the things they could control. After setting their intentions, everyone headed into the park for a game of Jockeys before launching into another action-packed day.
The second set of activities included:
- Rock Wall
- Inflatables
- Bag Blitz
The students continued stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting one another, and embracing every opportunity to Play All In.
The Monster Course
After lunch, the excitement ramped up even further.
Before tackling the Monster Course, students helped recapture a collection of escaped mythical creatures, setting the stage for one of the biggest highlights of camp. Then it was time to take on the legendary Monster Course itself.
Students worked their way through eight obstacles:
- Holy Buckets
- Charades
- Tarp Catch
- Sleds
- Ball Puzzle
- Snowy Pit
- Brucey
- Ball Pit
And just when they thought they were finished, they discovered there was a second lap waiting for them.
The true challenge of the Monster Course isn’t about being the fastest—it’s about resilience, perseverance, and improvement. Every team had the opportunity to push beyond what they thought they could do and prove that they were capable of more than they imagined.
Final Day – Gratitude & Goodbyes
The final morning arrived with plenty of tired smiles as students gathered for a Gratitude session with Fish. Together, they reflected on the people, opportunities, and experiences they were thankful for before heading into a game of Pirates and their final activity rotations.
As camp drew to a close, students took part in a meaningful reflection activity called Rock, Stick, and Leaf:
- 🪨 Rock – Something that rocked about camp
- 🌿 Stick – Something they will take away with them
- 🍃 Leaf – Something they are ready to leave behind
This gave everyone a chance to celebrate their achievements and reflect on how much they had grown over the past three days.
Tribe Reflections & Values Winners
Each tribe voted for the person who best embodied The Summit’s Five Keys throughout camp. These students consistently demonstrated courage, teamwork, positivity, and a willingness to support those around them.
🏅 Values Winners:
- Crocinators – Patty
- Bush Chickens – Nick
- Trees – Nate
These students were recognised by their peers for the incredible effort they brought to every moment of camp and were presented with a commemorative medallion to remind them of everything they achieved.
