On Wednesday 6th May, the Year 5 and 6 students and teachers from St Anthony’s Parish Primary arrived at The Summit Adventure Park buzzing with excitement and ready to jump into an unforgettable few days of adventure, teamwork, and challenge. After settling into their accommodation, the group gathered together in the Stadium where Coach Timmay officially welcomed everyone to camp and introduced the incredible coaching team who would guide them through the experience ahead.
To kick things off, students were introduced to The Summit’s recipe for the best camp ever — The Five Keys:
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
The group then headed down to the Stage where Coach Spinks (Steph) got everyone warmed up with a fun game of Keepings Up, with the students managing an impressive 22 touches together as a team!
Following this, Tim and Spinks delivered the Helmet and Harness safety briefing before introducing students to The Summit’s powerful Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy — encouraging everyone to push outside their comfort zones and take on challenges they may have once thought impossible.
Activities & Tribe Names
The students then split into their tribes, officially becoming:
- The Bobs
- Blah Blah Blah
Over the three days, students tackled an incredible lineup of activities including:
- High Wire
- Laser Skirmish
- Flying Fox
- Bush Challenge
- Rock Wall
- Inflatables
- Giant Swing
- Abseiling
Students were also introduced to one of The Summit’s favourite traditions — GMICs (Great Moments In Camp) — where awesome acts of courage, teamwork, positivity, and fun were celebrated throughout camp.
Day Two – Intentions, Teamwork & Monster Energy
Day Two began with a powerful session about setting a morning intention and focusing on the things we can control — our attitude, our effort, and the way we show up for ourselves and our team. Students enthusiastically shared their intentions for the day before heading down to the park for a high-energy game of Evolutions to get everyone moving.
The group then launched into three massive activity rotations. Even with the hot weather, students powered through every challenge with determination, resilience, and heaps of energy.
The Monster Course
After lunch and one final activity rotation, students geared up for one of the biggest highlights of camp — the legendary Monster Course. Following the safety briefing, the countdown began and both tribes launched into the muddy challenge filled with teamwork, grit, and resilience.
After conquering a huge first lap, students were shocked to discover that the winning team wouldn’t be the fastest overall — it would be the team with the greatest improvement on their second lap. Armed with their Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goals, both tribes dug deep and gave it absolutely everything on the second run.
Mud-covered, exhausted, and proud, the students wrapped up an incredible day with showers, dinner, and an evening activity before heading off for a well-earned rest.
Final Day – Gratitude & Celebration
As the final day rolled around, the group gathered together to read through all of the amazing GMICs from camp before Tim led a gratitude session, encouraging students to reflect on the people and experiences they were most thankful for.
To get everyone moving one final time, students played a hilarious game of “Crane, Tiger, Egg” before launching into their final activity rotations and soaking up every last moment of camp.
