On Tuesday afternoon, 13th May 2026, the Year 6 students and teachers from Bentleigh West Primary School arrived through The Summit gates full of excitement and ready to dive into an unforgettable adventure. After settling into their accommodations, the group gathered in the Lodge where the coaching team introduced themselves and officially welcomed everyone to camp.
Coach Spinks shared The Summit’s recipe for the best camp ever, built around the famous Five Keys that would guide the group throughout their journey.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Day One – Tribe Energy & Big Goals
The adventure kicked off with a Helmet and Harness briefing led by Liv and Ebony before Coach Anthony introduced the powerful Target, Stretch, Super Stretch mindset strategy. Students learned how to set goals that pushed them beyond what they thought was possible—and they immediately put it into action during a game of “Keeping Up.” With a Super Stretch goal of 100, the group smashed expectations with an incredible score of 157!
The teams then tackled initiative challenges that tested communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills before launching into their first activity rotations. Throughout the day, students pushed themselves outside their comfort zones while supporting one another every step of the way.
Activities included:
- Giant Swing
- Summit Window
- Cave
- Bag Blitz
- Snowy River Challenge
- Orienteering
- High Wire
The tribes also came together to create their team names, officially becoming:
- Juice Box Joeys
- Bug Blobs
- Bentleigh Baddies
- Summitters Chickens
- The Umbrellas
- 60013 Otters
- The Crazy Donut Campers
Students were also introduced to one of The Summit’s favourite traditions—GMICs (Great Moments In Camp)—a chance to celebrate the awesome moments, brave efforts, and funny memories created throughout camp.
Day Two – Intentions, Challenges & Monster Effort
Day Two began with an important conversation around Morning Intentions and focusing on what we can control—our attitude, effort, and mindset. Students called out their own intentions for the day before warming up with a huge game of Big Star, Little Star.
With energy high, the students headed down into the park for three massive activity rotations. Even with tired legs and not much sleep, the group showed incredible resilience, determination, and positivity as they continued smashing goals and embracing every challenge thrown their way.
After lunch, it was time for the tribe challenge: Strategy Games! Teams battled it out in a giant game of tag, racing to collect as many coloured cards from opposing teams as possible before time ran out. The competition was fierce, but the teamwork and tribe spirit were even stronger.
The Monster Course
After afternoon tea (and a quick burst of line dancing to warm everyone up!), students were briefed for one of The Summit’s most legendary challenges—the Monster Course.
The countdown began, and the teams launched into the muddy obstacle course, working together through every challenge with grit, resilience, and determination. But the biggest surprise came after the first lap… students discovered the winners wouldn’t be the fastest team overall—it would be the team that improved the most on their second lap!
Armed with their Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goals, every tribe dug deep and gave it absolutely everything. The energy, encouragement, and teamwork on display were incredible to watch.
After a massive day, the students enjoyed showers, dinner, and an evening activity before heading off for a well-earned rest.
Final Day – Gratitude & Final Challenges
As the final morning rolled around, the group gathered together to read out GMICs before Coach Anthony led a powerful Gratitude session. Students reflected on the people and experiences they were most thankful for and took a moment to check back in before their final two activity rotations.
After warming up with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors Evolution, students launched into their final activities, making the most of every last moment at camp.
