Beaumaris Secondary College

On the 29th of April, the Year 8 students and teachers from Beaumaris Secondary College arrived at The Summit full of excitement, energy, and readiness for an unforgettable few days of adventure. After settling into their accommodation, the students met their incredible coaching team—Mim, Spinks, Christopher, Chris, Sam, Will, Ebony, and Lucy—who would guide them through every challenge, muddy moment, and breakthrough across camp.

Before launching into the action, the students were introduced to The Summit’s Five Keys—the mindset and values that help create the best camp experience possible.

The Five Keys

Students also learned The Summit’s Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, encouraging everyone to break big challenges into achievable steps and discover their own personal wins throughout camp.

Day One – Activities & Tribe Names

With the foundations set, it was time to jump straight into activities! Across the three days, students tackled an epic lineup of challenges including:

  • Jump Free
  • Snowy River Challenge
  • Flying Fox
  • Laser Skirmish
  • Sky Bridge
  • Leap of Faith
  • Rock Wall
  • Inflatable City

From conquering fears at height to racing through obstacles and working together under pressure, the students threw themselves into every challenge with enthusiasm and courage.

At the end of Day One, the groups got creative and came up with their tribe names, officially becoming teams ready to battle it out through the rest of camp. The tribe names were:

  • Be the One
  • Awesome Sauce
  • The Sweats
  • Hungry
  • The Lake
  • Intact
  • Saunders Minions
  • Crewmates

The energy, laughter, and team spirit were already building strong by the close of the first day.

Day Two – Intention & Monster Energy

Day Two started bright and early with Coach Mim leading a powerful conversation around intention—encouraging students to think about how they wanted to show up for the day ahead.

After a fun and competitive game of Jockeys to get everyone moving, the students launched into four huge activity rotations before gearing up for one of the most iconic Summit experiences of all… the mud run Monster Course.

The Monster Course

At first, students thought they were racing head-to-head for the fastest time, but they soon discovered the real challenge was about resilience, grit, and pushing beyond what they thought was possible.

After completing their first muddy lap, teams were told they’d be taking on the course again—with the winning team being the group that achieved the biggest improvement between laps. This surprise second lap pushed everyone to dig deep, support each other, and embrace the challenge together.

Covered in mud and full of adrenaline, the students showed incredible determination and teamwork right until the finish line.

Final Day – Gratitude, Reflection & Celebration

As the final morning rolled around, Coach Sam led a meaningful session on gratitude, encouraging students to reflect on the people, opportunities, and experiences they were thankful for.

The group then headed down to the stage for a hilarious game of Rock Paper Scissors Chant before launching into their final two activity rotations of camp.

During the final rotation, each tribe selected a Values Winner—someone who truly embodied The Summit’s Five Keys through their attitude, courage, leadership, and support for others throughout camp.

Students also had the exciting opportunity to receive a Limitless Golden Ticket—a special invitation to a leadership camp later in the year. These students were recognised by the coaches for their outstanding leadership, enthusiasm, participation, and teamwork.
