On the stunning afternoon of Monday the 27th of April 2026, The Summit welcomed the Year 3–6 students and teachers from Officer Primary School for an action-packed few days of adventure, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. Excitement filled the air as students settled into their accommodation before gathering in the Lodge to officially kick off camp together.
Coach Spinks introduced the camp experience before the coaching team—Spinks, Monty, Liv, Simon, Riley, and Simon—welcomed the students and shared The Summit’s secret recipe for the best camp ever: The Five Keys.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
With the excitement building, everyone headed down to the stage where Monty and Liv demonstrated how to safely use helmets and harnesses before Liv introduced the Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy. Students then put the strategy into action with a huge game of 50 Up led by Simon.
Day One – Activities & Tribe Names
To kick off the adventure, students first tackled an initiative challenge designed to test teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills. The groups rose to the occasion brilliantly before launching into their first activity rotations.
Across camp, students experienced an awesome range of activities including:
- Bush Challenge
- Flying Fox
- Giant Swing and Rock Wall
- Inflatables
- Laser Skirmish
- Tash’s Ladder
- Scavenger Hunt
These activities challenged bravery, teamwork, trust, communication, creativity, and resilience—and the students embraced every moment.
The groups also created their tribe names, officially becoming teams ready to take on camp together:
- The Summit Minions
- Chuwawa Avengers
- Brave Kangaroos
- Hoofy Goobers
Before wrapping up the first day, students were introduced to a special Summit tradition: GMICs (Great Moments In Camp), where awesome moments, courageous efforts, and funny memories are written down and celebrated throughout camp.
Day Two – Intention & Monster Madness
Day Two began with an epic Morning Intention session led by Spinks, encouraging students to think about who they wanted to be that day and how they wanted to show up for themselves, others, and their tribe. Students learned about focusing on the things they could control and “putting on their intention jacket” before heading into the park for a massive day of activities.
After a huge game of Jockeys to get everyone moving, the groups powered through three activity rotations before lunch and another in the afternoon.
Then came one of the most legendary moments of camp…
The Monster Course
The famous Monster Course pushed every team to show resilience, teamwork, and determination. Students charged through the muddy obstacle course together, giving it absolutely everything they had.
But the biggest surprise? The students didn’t realise they’d be completing TWO laps!
After finishing the first lap, the teams regrouped and pushed themselves through a second run of the course. The winning team wasn’t the fastest overall—it was the team with the biggest improvement time between laps. Every single group improved by over 10 minutes, showing incredible persistence and teamwork across the board.
Final Day – Gratitude, Reflection & Tank Time
As the final morning rolled around, heaps of GMICs were shared and celebrated before Simon led a powerful gratitude session. Students reflected on who and what they were grateful for and were encouraged to fully embrace their final activities and not go home wondering “What If.”
After warming up with a huge game of Pirates, the students headed into their final activity rotations before gathering together one last time to vote for their Values Winners—students who truly embodied The Summit’s Five Keys throughout camp.
As a special reward, the Values Winners and two teachers earned a spin in The Summit’s World War II Army Tank while the rest of the students cheered them on from the sidelines.
Special Rock Wall Shoutouts
A massive shoutout to some incredible Rock Wall efforts during camp:
- Wanita from Chuwawa Avengers reached the bell on the red wall
- Amara climbed to the VERY top of the overhang and stood on the wall above the bell
Absolutely awesome courage and determination from both students!
