On Wednesday the 22nd of April, the Year 10 students and teachers from Waverley Christian College arrived at The Summit full of excitement and ready to take on three unforgettable days of adventure, teamwork, and challenge. Welcomed by calm skies and our friendly office crew, the group quickly settled into camp life before gathering in the Lodge to officially kick off the experience.
The coaching team—Lucy, Timmy, Ant, Chris, Liv, and Summer—introduced themselves before sharing the mindset that would guide the camp experience: The Summit’s Five Keys.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Day One – Activities & Tribe Names
With the energy already building, the group headed down to the Activity Hub for a huge start to camp. After a fun game of 50 Up, students learned all about helmets and harnesses before Timmy introduced the Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy—encouraging everyone to find their own win in every challenge.
Then it was time to launch into activities! Throughout camp, students tackled:
- Summit Window
- Bush Challenge
- Leap of Faith
- High Wire
- Laser Skirmish
- Giant Swing
- Cave
The teams kicked things off with warm-up initiatives focused on teamwork, communication, and problem-solving before diving into their first activity rotations.
As the afternoon rolled on, each group created a tribe name fit for champions and designed team flags that captured the spirit and personality of their crew. From hilarious names to creative team identities, the competition and tribe pride were alive from the very beginning.
The tribe names for camp were:
- The Bonkers
- Sparkly Unicorns
- AB 10 The Boss
- Team Friendship
- Girl Power
- 144
After an awesome first day filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of new experiences, the students wrapped up Day One with a final debrief before heading off to recharge for an even bigger day ahead.
Day Two – Intention, Tug of War & Monster Energy
Day Two began with a powerful session led by Timmy all about the importance of intention and daily goal setting. Students reflected on how they wanted to show up for themselves and their teams before heading down into the park for an action-packed day.
After warming up with a competitive game of Finger Fencing, the groups launched into multiple activity rotations across the park, continuing to challenge themselves physically and mentally. Whether it was facing fears up high, working together through obstacles, or pushing outside comfort zones, the students showed incredible resilience and determination all day long.
But the energy hit another level that afternoon…
The Monster Course
After an epic Tug of War showdown between the tribes, students geared up for one of the most legendary Summit experiences of all—The Monster Course.
Linked together with tyres in tow, teams charged through the muddy obstacle course catching things, pulling things, dodging obstacles, and getting completely soaked in the process. Spirits stayed high as students pushed through every challenge side-by-side.
Then came the twist.
After completing the first lap, students discovered they’d be doing it all again—but this time, the winning team wouldn’t be the fastest overall. Victory would go to the team with the best improvement time between laps.
The result? Massive determination, incredible teamwork, and some seriously impressive improvement times across the board.
Mud-covered, exhausted, and full of adrenaline, the students finished Day Two stronger than ever.
Final Day – Gratitude, Reflection & Tank Time
The final morning began with a Gratitude session led by Coach Ant, encouraging students to reflect on the people, opportunities, and experiences they were thankful for.
To kick off the day’s fun, the group jumped into an epic showdown of Huckle Buckle before completing their final two activity rotations around the park.
By the end of camp, students had not only conquered huge physical challenges, but had also built stronger friendships, confidence, and resilience along the way.
Tribe Reflections & Tank Time
As camp came to a close, each group selected a Values Winner—someone who truly embodied the Summit Five Keys and lifted up their team throughout the experience.
🏅 Values Winners:
- The Bonkers – Dan
- Sparkly Unicorns – Jaime
- AB 10 The Boss – Ebe
- Team Friendship – Seneth
- Girl Power – Alvin
- 144 – Lucas
To celebrate, the Values Winners earned a hot lap in The Summit’s World War II Army Tank while the rest of the group cheered them on from the sidelines. It was the perfect high-energy finish to an unforgettable three days together.
