Christway College

The energy was high as the students and staff from Christway College rolled through The Summit gates, ready to take on five huge days of challenge, teamwork, laughter, and growth. With a mix of returning students and brand-new faces, excitement was everywhere as bags were unpacked, bungalows claimed, and everyone made their way down to the Stadium to meet their coaching team.

Coach Simon, Spinks, Montana, Summer, and Chris welcomed the group before kicking things off with a high-energy game of “50 Up” to get everyone moving and connected. From the very beginning, students were introduced to one of The Summit’s biggest mindset tools: Goal Setting — Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch. A simple but powerful way to help students push beyond what they think they’re capable of.  As well as the secret recipe to an epic camp: The Five Keys.

The Five Keys

Day One – Activities & Tribe Names

Before launching into activities, each group had one very important mission… creating their Tribe Names! The numbered groups quickly transformed into legendary teams:

  • Oops I Slipped
  • Tot Glazers
  • Marvelous Mangos
  • Fantastic Four
  • Power Panthers

With tribe identities locked in, it was time to jump straight into the first activity rotations. Students tackled:

  • Summit Window
  • High Wire
  • Giant Swing
  • Snowy River Challenge
  • Cave

For many of the Year 7 students, these activities were completely new experiences, while the Year 8 students faced fresh challenges they hadn’t attempted before. Throughout the day, students stepped outside their comfort zones, encouraged one another, and discovered what can happen when you choose to play all in.

That evening, the fun continued with a Tribe Challenge: Strategy Games. Students quickly realised it wasn’t just about speed—it was about communication, teamwork, and learning from mistakes as the game evolved round by round.

Day Two – Intention & Team Spirit

Each morning at The Summit begins with intention, and Day Two introduced students to the power of the “Three States”:

  • Focus
  • Physiology
  • Language

These sessions encouraged students to think about how mindset impacts performance—not only during camp, but back at school and in everyday life as well.

After a quick game of Jockeys to get everyone laughing and moving, students jumped back into their activity rotations, continuing to challenge themselves across the park. Whether they were pushing through fears, supporting teammates, or simply trying something new, every student found ways to grow throughout the day.

As the afternoon rolled around, students enjoyed some well-earned free time with dancing, Gaga Ball, and skipping stones across the lake. But the competition wasn’t over yet…

Back in tribes, teams were challenged to create their own chants, judged on:

  • Volume
  • Participation
  • Creativity

The creativity and comedy levels were already beginning to shine, with students bringing massive energy and enthusiasm to every performance.

Day Three – New Coaches & New Challenges

Day Three brought an exciting new set of activities and coaches into the mix. After warming up with a game of Huckle Buckle, students launched into activities including:

  • Abseiling
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Tash’s Ladder
  • Flying Fox

The afternoon also introduced some fresh coaching faces—Coach Mim, Lucy, Christopher, and Jeff!

Whether soaring across the lake on the Flying Fox, climbing to new heights, or tackling team challenges, students continued building confidence, resilience, and trust in one another. Most importantly, they kept bringing the fun.

Day Four – Tribe Chants & The Monster Course

By Day Four, students had already accomplished so much—but there was still plenty more ahead. Activity rotations included:

  • Rock Wall
  • Sky Bridge
  • Bush Challenge
  • Orienteering
  • Leap of Faith

By now, students were becoming experts at getting comfortable being uncomfortable, stepping into every challenge with more courage and confidence than when they first arrived.

Before the afternoon’s main event, tribes finally performed their long-awaited chants. Every team brought something unique, hilarious, and energetic to the stage, making it incredibly difficult for the judges—and resulting in a tie for first place!

The Monster Course

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for…

The legendary Monster Course.

After the countdown began, students launched into the mud-filled challenge, carrying tyres, linking arms, and working together through every obstacle. The course demanded teamwork, grit, encouragement, and determination, reminding everyone that nobody gets left behind.

Mud-covered, exhausted, and absolutely buzzing with energy, students crossed the finish line stronger than when they started.

Final Day – Gratitude & Goodbyes

As the final morning arrived, the group slowed things down with a powerful Gratitude Session, taking time to appreciate the little things—from warm showers after the mud run to the incredible weather and friendships formed throughout the week.

After one final burst of energy from Coach Mim, students headed out for their last activity rotations, making the most of every final moment at camp.

Values Winners

Each tribe voted for one person who truly embodied The Summit’s Five Keys throughout the week.

🏅 Values Winners:

  • Oops I Slipped – Joey
  • Tot Glazers – Shanon
  • Marvelous Mangos – Tristan
  • Fantastic Four – Favour
  • Power Panthers – Isidore

These students consistently encouraged others, played all in, stepped outside their comfort zones, and helped make camp unforgettable for everyone around them.
