On Monday the 18th of May, the Year 7 students and teachers from Lakeside College Pakenham arrived at The Summit ready for five massive days of challenge, teamwork, laughter, and growth. From the moment they rolled through the gates, the energy was high as students unpacked, settled in, and made their way down to the Stadium to meet the coaching crew. Coaches Lucy, Mim, Christopher, Liv, and Summer gave the group a huge welcome before introducing the values that would shape the entire camp experience — The Summit’s Five Keys.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Day One – Activities & Tribe Names
To kick things off, the group launched straight into a huge game of “50 Up,” bringing the energy early and getting everyone warmed up for the adventure ahead. Coach Lucy then introduced the Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, encouraging students to push beyond what they thought they were capable of.
With goals locked in, students jumped into initiative games and their first activity rotations, taking on challenges with enthusiasm despite the chilly weather. Throughout the afternoon, students began building confidence, supporting each other, and stepping outside their comfort zones.
Activities across the first days of camp included:
- Rock Wall
- Bag Blitz
- Flying Fox
- Bush Challenge
- Laser Tag
- Jump Free
- Snake & Nails
- Summit Window
- Cave
- Orienteering
- Leap of Faith
- Sky Bridge
- Giant Swing
- High Wire
- Inflatable City
The tribes quickly brought the camp spirit to life with some unforgettable team names:
- The Peoples
- Soggy Chicken Nuggets
- Octonauts
- Hail Storm
- Jamaican Bob Sled Teams
After a huge first day, the crew headed back for a well-earned dinner and some time to relax before another action-packed day ahead.
Day Two – Focus, Challenges & Chant Battles
Day Two began with an intention session led by Coach Lucy all about the power of Focus — one of the key ways we can control our state and mindset. Coach Christopher followed things up with a fast-paced repetition game that tested everyone’s coordination and concentration.
The group then launched into five epic activity rotations, tackling everything from Bush Challenge to Laser Tag with determination and high energy. Throughout the day, students continued building teamwork, resilience, and confidence while encouraging each other every step of the way.
That evening, the excitement shifted to the Stadium for one of camp’s most entertaining events — the Chant Talent Show!
Each tribe had 30 minutes to create the ultimate team chant, complete with choreography, energy, and plenty of personality. Hosted by Christopher and supported by Liv as crowd-control extraordinaire, the talent show delivered huge laughs and unforgettable performances.
Special judges Miss Queen Slay Boss, King Julian, and Sir Quackington took their roles very seriously, delivering “expert feedback” while the tribes absolutely SLAYED their performances.
The energy at the end of Day Two was incredible, with every team bringing enthusiasm, creativity, and confidence to the stage.
Day Three – Playing All In
Day Three kicked off with Coach Christopher introducing the second key to controlling state — Physiology. Students explored how movement, posture, and energy can completely change mindset and performance.
To put this into action, everyone jumped into a giant game of “Jockeys,” where students paired up to compete in hilarious challenges. Even the teachers got involved — and managed to take the win!
The day’s activity rotations pushed students to new heights and new challenges, including:
- Jump Free
- Snake & Nails
- Summit Window
- Cave
- Orienteering
From dark caves to towering heights, students continued proving to themselves just how capable they really were. By the end of the day, comfort zones had expanded in all the right ways, and the sense of achievement across the group was huge.
Day Four – Language & The Monster Course
Day Four focused on the final key to controlling state — Language. Coach Mim shared a powerful session about how the words we speak to ourselves and others can either limit us or empower us.
After a fun game of “Pirates” led by Captain Lucy — and a warm welcome to Coach Chris from Canada — students launched into their final major activity rotations:
- Leap of Faith
- Sky Bridge
- Giant Swing
- High Wire
- Inflatable City
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for…
The Monster Course
The afternoon transformed into muddy chaos as students took on The Summit’s legendary Monster Course. Teams leapt, crawled, slid, swam, and pushed through obstacle after obstacle together.
But the biggest surprise came when students discovered they’d be completing a second lap!
That second run became all about resilience, teamwork, and refusing to give up. Every team dug deep, encouraged one another, and proved that they were capable of far more than they initially believed.
Mud-covered, exhausted, and proud, the students returned for warm showers, dinner, and a chance to reflect on just how much they had achieved together.
Final Day – Gratitude, Reflections & Goodbyes
The final morning of camp began with a gratitude session led by Coach Lucy, encouraging students to appreciate the people, moments, and opportunities that often go unnoticed in everyday life.
After one final game of “Rock Paper Scissors Chant” with Coach Chris, the students headed out for their final activity rotations, giving absolutely everything they had in the last few hours of camp.
As camp wrapped up, each tribe voted for a Values Winner — someone who had truly embodied The Summit’s Five Keys through their courage, positivity, teamwork, and willingness to play all in.
