On the 9th of February, the Year 12 legends from Hillcrest Christian College rolled through The Summit gates, kicking off three massive days of challenge, growth and connection. From the moment they arrived, there was excitement in the air — a mix of anticipation, confidence (especially from returning students!), and a readiness to play all in.
After settling into their accommodations, the group gathered in the Lodge where the coaching team welcomed them and revealed the mindset that would shape the entire experience.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Before launching into seven epic activity rotations, students were introduced to key locations around the park. Calarnee and Timmay demonstrated helmets and harnesses, Mim unpacked our powerful goal-setting strategy — Target, Stretch, Super Stretch — and then it was time to get moving.
Activities & Tribe Names
Hillcrest tackled an incredible lineup of activities across the three days, including:
- Bush Challenge
- Abseiling
- Inflatables
- Leap of Faith
- Cave
- Summit Window
- Orienteering
- Flying Fox
- Rockwall
- Snakes & Nails
- Bag Blitz
Each team also stepped into their identity, creating Tribe Names that carried energy and personality across the park:
- 22s
- McSmart Meal
- Winston
- Big D.O.A
- Shrub Nation
- Raj Nation
- 6.7 but we 8
- 6.7 Unicorns
- Jarry Nation
- Sparkling Fairies
- No Where Boys
To wrap up Day One, students were introduced to one of The Summit’s favourite traditions — GMICs (Great Moments In Camp) — written affirmations celebrating courage, kindness and epic effort.
Day Two – Intention, Energy & Monster Mode
The second morning began with a powerful Intention Session in the Lodge with Coach Sam. The focus? Choosing how you show up. Deciding the one small step that could shape your entire day.
After a high-energy game of Big Star Little Star, students launched into three more activity rotations before lunch — backing themselves, backing their teams, and embracing the discomfort.
Then it was time for the moment everyone had been waiting for…
The Monster Course
Ten obstacles. Mud. Sleds. Tyres. Cargo nets. Ball pits. And then… a second lap.
Even for returning students who thought they knew what was coming, the Monster Course levelled up. On Lap Two, three additional obstacles were introduced — Over and Unders, Barbed and Dangerous, and Mud Mounds — pushing resilience even further.
And the result?
Every single team improved their time.
That’s what self-improvement looks like.
That’s what “Play All In” feels like.
Mud-covered, exhausted and proud, they crossed that finish line stronger than they started.
Final Day – Gratitude & Reflection
Day Three began in the Lodge with GMICs being read aloud — every recipient celebrated with two rounds of applause. The room was filled with gratitude as students reflected on friends, family, Jesus, staff and the opportunity to experience camp together.
With that grateful mindset, they launched into their final rotations, squeezing every last moment out of the experience.
Before heading home, teams gathered for one final reflection session using Rock, Stick, Leaf:
- Rock – Something that rocked about camp
- Stick – Something they’ll carry with them
- Leaf – Something they’re ready to let go
It was a powerful close — full of honesty, laughter and growth.

And never go home wondering “What If.”
