On Monday, 28th of July 2025, the Year 7 students of Al-Taqwa College rolled through The Summit gates, buzzing with excitement for three days of challenge, adventure, and unforgettable memories!

After checking into their accommodations, the group gathered in the Stadium, where the teaching team and The Summit coaches kicked things off. Coach Matt introduced The Summit’s Five Keys, the mindset to get the most out of camp:

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’

With the tone set, the students toured the park, learning the important locations around camp, including the BBQ Shelter, their central meeting spot. Timmay and Ant demonstrated how to properly wear a harness and helmet, while Coach Sam introduced the Target, Stretch, Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, helping students break challenges into achievable steps.

    Activities & GMICs

The adventure began with two initiative challenges before jumping into the first activity rotations. Camp activities included:

    • Rockwall
    • Inflatables
    • Bag Blitz
    • Snowy River Challenge
    • Giant Swing
    • Cave Exploration

The day wrapped up at the BBQ Shelter, where students were introduced to GMICs (Great Moments in Camp), The Summit’s way of sharing written compliments and acknowledging awesome moments. Then it was time for dinner, free time, and some well-earned rest.

Day Two — Intention & Monster Course

Tuesday kicked off with a morning intention session in the Stadium with Coach Sam, reminding students to set a personal goal for the day and choose how they wanted to show up for their tribe. A fun warm-up game in the park got everyone moving before tackling three epic activity rotations.

After lunch, it was time for the legendary Monster Course! This muddy, adrenaline-filled challenge featured obstacles like:

    • Holy Buckets
    • Tarp Catch
    • Sled Push
    • Ball Puzzle
    • Snowy Cargo
    • Ball Pit
    • Barbed & Dangerous
    • Mud Mounds

Teams gave it everything for two laps, learning that the real winners weren’t the fastest, but the ones who improved the most. Covered in mud but full of pride, students finished the day with hot showers, a hearty dinner, and well-earned sleep.

Final Day — Gratitude & Goodbyes

By the final morning, tired faces showed just how hard everyone had played, but the spirit of camp was still strong.

The day began with a Gratitude session , where students read GMICs, reflected on the people and moments they appreciated, and learned the Rock, Stick, and Leaf debrief strategy to carry camp lessons home. Two final activity rotations rounded out the adventure before a last group lunch and heartfelt goodbyes from The Summit coaches.
