On Monday afternoon, the Year 6 students of Aspendale Gardens rolled through The Summit gates, buzzing with excitement and ready for three days of growth, fun, and unforgettable memories. From the very start, the energy was electric as coaches Spinks (Sonic) and Lucy welcomed the group, introduced the coaching team, and set the tone for an epic adventure ahead.

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’

    Activities & Tribe Names

Students jumped straight into initiatives and activities, learning about Target, Stretch, Super Stretch , a mindset tool to break goals into manageable steps. Harnesses and helmets on, they launched into rotations of activities designed to stretch their limits.

    Tribes:

    • Mango Mustards
    • The Garry’s
    • The Summit
    • Mango Possums
    • Team Squeak
    • The Kings and Queens

Activities experienced: Rockwall, Flying Fox, Snake & Nails, High Wire, Laser Skirmish, Bush Challenge, Tash’s Ladder, Scavenger Hunt

Day One — Settling In & First Challenges

After arriving and enjoying lunch, students played a high-energy game of 50 Up (smashing a whopping 107 hits!) before heading into their first activities. Courage, teamwork, and laughter carried the tribes through their first rotations.

Day Two — Chants & The Monster Course

The morning kicked off with Morning Intention , where students learned the power of choosing their attitude for the day, no matter the weather, people, or activity. After a fun round of Jockeys, it was into three action-packed rotations.

In the afternoon, tribes performed their Tribe Chants , judged on participation, volume, and creativity. With scores neck and neck, The Kings and Queens came out on top with 68 points out of 90!

Then came the legendary Monster Course , two laps of mud, grit, and teamwork. Improvement was the key, and every tribe gave it their all.

Final Day — Gratitude & Going Home Strong

On the last morning, students gathered for a gratitude session, sharing what they were thankful for and celebrating GMICs (Great Moments in Camp) . With two more rotations to squeeze in, they were reminded not to “check out early” and to finish camp strong. The final game, Pirates, wrapped up the fun before farewells.
