On Wednesday the 10th of September, for the very first time, the Year 11 students of the Australian International Academy rolled through The Summit gates! Three days of challenge, growth, and adventure awaited, and from the moment they met their coaches and teachers in the Stadium, the energy was buzzing.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
Activities & Tribe Names
Before heading into their first rotations, the group learned the ropes (literally!) with harness and helmet demonstrations, plus an intro to Target, Stretch, Super Stretch , our goal-setting tool that breaks down challenges into manageable steps.
Tribes:
- Carlton
- The Batters
- Dux F.C.
Activities experienced: Sky Bridge • Inflatables • Summit Window • Jump Free • Snake & Nails • Rockwall • Monster Course
Day One — Getting Started
After settling into accommodations, students kicked things off with quick initiatives before diving into their first activities: Sky Bridge, Inflatables, and Summit Window. Courage, teamwork, and laughs set the tone for an incredible camp.
Day Two — Intention & Monster Course
The morning began with a session on Morning Intention , reminding everyone to focus on what they could control, their attitude, effort, and presence. Rotations continued with Jump Free, Snake & Nails, and Rockwall before the highly anticipated Monster Course !
This legendary challenge saw teams crawl, climb, and push through eight epic obstacles: Tarp Catch, Sleds, Ball Puzzle, Snowy Cargo, Brucey, Ball Pit, Barbed and Dangerous, and Mud Mounds. One team dug deep, refusing to give up, and smashed through the course in just 15:05, an incredible display of grit and teamwork.
Final Day — Gratitude & Reflections
Despite tired faces, the students finished camp strong. After packing up, Coach Matt led a powerful session on Gratitude , encouraging everyone to reflect on what they’d gained. The final two rotations capped off the adventure before gathering one last time for lunch and farewells.
In the last session, students shared their Rock, Stick, and Leaf reflections:
- Rock , something that rocked about camp
- Stick , something that will stay with them
- Leaf , something they’re ready to let go
Values Winners
Each tribe voted for a teammate who embodied the Five Keys all camp long:
- Carlton , Khaled
- The Batters , Ibby Baarini
- Dux F.C. , Riad
These legends not only earned the respect of their peers but also received special medals as a reminder of their courage, effort, and ability to push beyond their limits.
Thank You, Australian International Academy!
What a camp! Thank you for diving into every challenge, showing resilience, and embracing the spirit of the Five Keys. You’ve left The Summit with new skills, stronger bonds, and memories that will last a lifetime.
We wish you all the very best for the rest of the year, don’t go home wondering “what if.”
