On Wednesday, 16th September 2026, the Year 5 students and teachers from Boroondara Park Primary School arrived at The Summit under calm skies, greeted by a crew that was every bit as excited as they were!
After settling into their accommodation, everyone gathered in the Lodge, the home base for meals and downtime across the next three days. It was here that Coaches Lucy and Jeff introduced themselves and shared The Summit’s Five Keys, the values that take camp from good to great.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If”
Day One – A Flying Start
With the mindset set, the whole group ran down to the main park, where the coaches delivered the Helmet and Harness briefing before walking everyone through the Target, Stretch and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy.
Target — what you know you can do.
Stretch — what you think you can do.
Super Stretch — what you think is impossible.
It is a simple way to break a big challenge into achievable steps, so every student can find their own win in every activity.
Each team started with a group initiative challenge, putting their problem solving and teamwork straight to work before the first two official activities of camp.
Across the three days, the groups took on:
- Giant Swing
- Tribe Identity
- Highwire
- Snowy River Challenge
- Inflatables
- Bag Blitz
- Tash’s Ladder
- Scavenger Hunt
With the first rotations done and plenty of energy still in the tank, the students came together for a camp wrap-up and a last-minute question session to close out Day One.
Day Two – Intentions & The Monster Course
Day Two opened with a talk from Lucy on the power of intentions and daily goal setting, with students taking the time to share their own intention for the day ahead.
A warm-up game of Fish Out of Water got everyone moving before the groups split for three action-packed rotations. A switch of activities halfway through kept things fresh, with four new challenges on offer, then a well-earned lunch at around 1pm before the final rotation of the day.
Then it was time for the biggest event of camp…
The Monster Course
The crew headed down to the hub to be briefed for the legendary Monster Course. Tribes linked up and took on the course together, with one very stubborn extra teammate along for the ride: a tyre.
They caught things, pulled things, dodged things and, most importantly, got wet, muddy and dirty.
Then came the twist. After Lap One, the coaches revealed that the winner would not be the fastest team, but the team that improved the most on their second run.
Every tribe dug deep, and every tribe delivered, with both teams taking more than nine minutes off their first lap. Tired and triumphant, the students headed off for hot showers and dinner, ready for the final day.
Final Day – Gratitude & Celebration
The last day began with a Gratitude session led by Coach Jeff, encouraging the students to notice what they have and the people around them.
From there it was down to the park for one more day of adventure, starting with an epic showdown in a game of Huckle Buckle to crown the overall champion, before the tribes split for their final two activities.
With the last challenges done, each group voted for the teammates who had best lived the Five Keys across the three days, the students whose attitude made their whole tribe shine.
The group then gathered at the Stage for a final lunch together, a camp debrief, long-awaited competition results and plenty of thank-yous to the people who made it all possible. After a final school photo, it was time for goodbyes.
