After a long haul from Corryong, the students and teachers rolled through The Summit gates, ready for five days of challenge, teamwork and muddy memories that will last well beyond the term.
Day 1 , Settling In & Stretching Limits
Welcome video, rules & The Five Keys
Coach Spinks introduced everyone to The Summit’s camp philosophy:
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If”
Once that was done, they started with a few games: Look up, Look down, followed by the Tennis Ball Challenge. The participants set themselves a Target, a Stretch, and a Super Stretch. With a baseline time of 27 seconds, they super-stretched themselves down to 5 seconds!
The afternoon moved to the hub, Snowy River Rec Room , for snacks and an initiative called ‘Where is George?’ (rescued on the third attempt). From there, they went to the Bush Challenge! The group completed this challenge in 27 minutes, and so they created the tribe name “George 27.”
Evening wrap-up: free-time zones, meal times and the first batch of GMICs ( Great Moments In Camp ).
Day 2 , Intention & Big Swings
Morning Intention Session, focusing on what we control (mind-set, effort, support). A quick game of Jockeys warmed everyone up before triple-header rotations:
- Giant Swing
- Leap of Faith
- Laser Tag
Post-lunch thrills: Abseil from the tower and the Snowy River Challenge 2.0. Highlights? Hoisting teammates over the wall, mastering the swing strategy, and Ted conquering the Wombat Hole despite nerves.
Day 3 , Words, Actions & New Heights
Two short videos on intention and influence kicked off the morning. Each camper wrote a one-word focus and quote on the whiteboard, then self-scored at lunch.
Activities:
- High Wire
- Rock Wall
- Summit Window
- Jump Free (14 m tower, big courage from Nathan, Sonja, Hayden & Jade)
- Inflatables , birthday-boy Ollie scoring every goal!
Day 4 , Gratitude & The Monster Course
Beyoncé’s “I Was Here” set the tone for a Gratitude chat, feeling thankful before setting the day’s intention.
Court warm-ups: volleyball and 50 Up with a yoga ball (Haylea’s centre-court tip sealed the 50th hit). Rotations:
- Flying Fox , Sonja & Haylea hit their Super Stretch
- Snake & Nails , meeting Hercules and tip-toeing the nail board
- Cave , right-hand-on-the-right-wall into the unknown
Monster Course Changed, pumped up, and ready to go, the group gathered for the famous Monster Course , a Summit signature event designed to test grit, teamwork, and pure determination. After a warm-up cycle and full-body stretch, it was time to begin.
Lap One began with the challenge of carrying six heavy tyres as a group. The rules were simple: the tyres had to stay off the ground at all times, be stacked neatly at each obstacle, and be treated with care. Dropping or mistreating a tyre meant facing group consequences, time penalties and physical team challenges like linking up as one giant human chain.
They finished Lap 1 in 30 min 15 s (with no penalties!). With a renewed fire, the group quickly set targets for their second lap:
Lap 2 targets: 27 min (Target) · 20 min (Stretch) · 15 min (Super Stretch)
This time, thanks to their perfect teamwork, they were allowed to ditch the tyres and focus purely on pushing themselves harder, faster, stronger. They crossed the finish line in 15 minutes and 55 seconds. Just 55 seconds shy of their Super Stretch, and over 14 minutes faster than their first time. What an incredible team effort!
Day 5 , Reflection, Awards & Tank Ride
Final breakfast, final GMICs, and a Rock · Stick · Leaf debrief:
- Rock: what rocked
- Stick: what will stick with you
- Leaf: what to leave behind
Values Winners (living the Five Keys)
- Have Fun: Jade
- Play All In: James
- Make lots of Mistakes: Sonja
- Get Comfortable being Uncomfortable: Bell
- Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If”: Logan
Group Hero & Heart: James
Reward? A roaring hot lap in The Summit’s WWII Army Tank, crushing a car while classmates cheered.
Thank You, Corryong College!
From Coach Spinks and the entire Summit crew, thank you for five days of grit, laughter and growth. You set huge targets, stretched further than you thought possible, and left zero “what ifs” on the table.
Safe travels home and all the best for the rest of 2025. Remember your Five Keys and keep pushing those comfort zones!
