On a fresh Wednesday afternoon, the students and teachers of Drouin Primary School rolled through the gates of The Summit, ready for an unforgettable adventure. After checking into their accommodation, they gathered at the Lodge where the team leader introduced The Summit coaches, and Calarnee kicked things off by introducing the camp’s guiding philosophy, The Five Keys.

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’

These values guided every challenge and celebration, helping students to step outside their comfort zones and support one another fully.

    Day One: Getting Started

Before jumping into their first activities, the group played a round of “50 Up”, working together to keep a yoga ball in the air for 50 hits, setting the tone for teamwork and fun. They were then shown the Stage, and all the key areas around the park.

Fran and Milena demonstrated how to put on a harness and helmet, while Calarnee introduced the students to the Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting method, designed to help break challenges into manageable, confidence-building steps.

Then it was off to their first activity rotations, which included:

    Bush Challenge

    Laser Skirmish

    Rock Wall

    Flying Fox

    Scavenger Hunt

    Giant Swing

The day wrapped up with a special introduction to GMICs , Great Moments In Camp , where students could write compliments or acknowledgements to each other, a Summit tradition that celebrates courage, kindness, and epic effort. After some final instructions and dinner times were shared, it was free time to unwind and relax.

Day Two: Intention and the Monster

After breakfast, the crew returned to the Lodge for an Intentions Session with Calarnee, where they learned how setting a personal intention could help guide their mindset through the day’s challenges, whether it was staying positive, showing kindness, or pushing through fear.

A high-energy game of Jockeys followed, getting everyone moving before diving into three more activity rotations. Then came two major events…

First, the Tribe Chant Challenge! Each group had time to create a chant that showed off their unity, energy, and originality. They performed these in front of the other teams, loud, proud, and full of spirit!

Then it was time for the main event: the Monster Course . Ten obstacle challenges lay ahead, including:

    • Holy Buckets
    • Charades
    • Tarp Catch
    • Sled Pulls
    • Ball Puzzle
    • Snowy Cargo
    • Brucey
    • Ball Pit
    • Barbed and Dangerous
    • Mud Angels in the Mounds

What the students didn’t know was that there was a second lap waiting for them. This surprise round was all about resilience, effort, and improvement, with each team’s final result based on the difference between lap one and lap two.

After rinsing off (either under the outdoor showers or in the Big Cargo Net rinse-off zone), students enjoyed dinner and a well-earned rest.

    Day Three: Reflection and Farewell

The final morning began with Sam leading the group in a Gratitude and Reflection session, building on earlier intention discussions. GMICs were read aloud, and students took a moment to think about who and what they were grateful for, family, friends, campmates, even their own courage.

Before heading home, there were two more activity rotations to complete. Then, just before lunch, tribes gathered for a meaningful Rock, Stick & Leaf reflection:

    • Rock , something that rocked about camp
    • Stick , something that will stick with them moving forward
    • Leaf , something they’re ready to leave behind

Each group also voted for one person who truly embodied the Five Keys across the whole camp experience. These Values Winners were then rewarded in the most epic way possible…

    And the Values Winners Are:

    • The Joeys , Emma
    • The Best Of The Best , Chase
    • Better Monkeys , Max and Milly
    • The Champions , Diesel
    • Rizz Gods , Ava

To celebrate their effort and example, these legends received the ultimate reward: a hot lap in The Summit’s Army Tank !

    Thank You, Drouin Primary!

On behalf of Calarnee, Sam, Fran, Milena, and the entire Summit team, thank you for playing all in, lifting each other up, and creating a camp filled with joy, bravery, and growth. You showed what it means to push past limits and support your tribe every step of the way.

We wish you all the best for the rest of the year and hope to see you again soon!
