What an EPIC camp! On Wednesday, 9th September 2026, two minibuses rolled through The Summit gates carrying the students of East Preston Islamic College, ready for an unforgettable three-day adventure.

Most arrived in classic camp-ready gear, while MG made quite the entrance in his suit! From the moment they arrived, it was clear this crew was ready to bring plenty of energy, laughter and courage to The Summit.

Coaches Steph (Spinks) and Sam (Fish) were there to lead the way, with the group settling into their accommodation before meeting everyone in the Rec Room for the official camp welcome.

There was plenty to learn, including GMICs (Great Moments In Camp), the T.S.SS goal-setting strategy of Target, Stretch and Super Stretch, and of course, The Summit’s Five Keys—the values that would take camp from good to great!

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If?”

With the mindset set, everyone headed down to the Snowy Stage, got familiar with the park and split into two groups to begin their first activities.

Day One kicked off with Laser Skirmish and Rockwall. The boys started on Laser with Fish while the girls headed to Rockwall with Spinks.

The effort was on from the very beginning. The boys played all in during Laser, while the girls conquered some serious heights on Rockwall, with some even making it all the way to the top of the hardest wall!

If Day One was anything to go by, The Summit knew this crew was going to bring something special.

After the groups swapped activities and enjoyed some afternoon tea, everyone gathered for a quick wrap-up before dinner. But the adventure wasn’t finished yet!

The night ended with a night walk, and perhaps a little late-night snacking from the duffle bags.

Day Two – Intentions, Heights & Mud

The biggest day of camp began back in the Rec Room, where Fish led an awesome session on Intentions.

Students were challenged to think about two important questions: Who do we want to be today, and can we change that?

    The answer was yes.

It was time to choose who they wanted to be. To be brave, to be an encouraging teammate and to show up as the best version of themselves.

Then it was time to put those intentions into action!

The boys started with Sky Bridge while the girls tackled the Snowy River Challenge. After swapping activities and enjoying morning tea, everyone headed over to the Big Tower for the next challenges.

The girls took on Summit Window, trusting themselves from the highest point available, while the boys took on Leap of Faith, jumping from the tower in an attempt to grab the tempting metal bar.

After lunch, the groups swapped once more, before it was time to prepare for the biggest challenge of the day…

    The Monster Course

    The mud run was here!

The Monster Course featured twelve obstacles standing between each team and the finish line:

    • Holy Buckets
    • Charades
    • Tarp Catch
    • Sleds
    • A-Frame Puzzle
    • Big Cargo Net
    • Small Cargo Net
    • Brucey Frisbee
    • Muddy Puddles
    • Ball Pit
    • Barbed and Dangerous
    • Mud Mounds

And, of course, they had to transport tyres along the way.

Both teams battled their way through the course and crossed the finish line wet, muddy and exhausted.

    But then came the surprise…

    There was a second lap!

The Monster Course isn’t about comparing yourself to another team. It’s about comparing yourself to where you started and finding ways to improve.

    And improve they did.

After completing their second lap, the students headed for the outdoor showers to wash off the mud before enjoying proper showers, dinner and a relaxed campfire to finish the day.

Final Day – Gratitude & Going Beyond

Friday brought the final day of camp, beginning with a Gratitude session in the Rec Room.

Fish shared why he was grateful for Spinks and everyone in the room, along with a real-life example of the incredible impact gratitude can have.

Coach Calarnee was also introduced, with some students already recognising her from the duck activities and her Mud Run support.

Then came the final activity of camp…

    Jump Free.

Every trial, lesson and experience had led to this moment, the final opportunity to stretch beyond the comfort zone.

It was incredible to see both groups full of students pushing further than they had before and taking the opportunity to nail the fifth and final Key:

Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If?”

    Tribe Reflections & Values Winners

With the final activity complete, the students gathered for their debrief and took part in the Rock, Stick, Leaf reflection:

    • Rock – something that rocked about camp
    • Stick – something they’ll take with them
    • Leaf – something they’re ready to let go

    Then came the final votes.

The students chose the people they believed best represented the spirit of their group throughout camp.

🏅 And the Values Winners Are:

    • Ayah
    • Abraham

These two legends were recognised by their peers for representing the incredible attitude, teamwork and Five Keys spirit shown throughout camp.

    🏆 Competition Results

🏆 Snowy River Challenge (fastest times):

    • 28:00 – Jumale Disciples
    • 40:00 – 67 GOATS

💪 Monster Course - Improved by:

P.S. Fish went home and bought the Mango juice, Siddique… and it gets his tick of approval! 😉
