On Monday, 14th September, 75 Year 5 students from Hartwell Primary School arrived at The Summit for three days packed with leadership, challenge, teamwork and plenty of opportunities to get ready for Grade 6!
After settling in and enjoying a self-catered lunch, the students came together to be introduced to The Summit’s Five Keys before spreading across the site for their first activity rotations.

Activities & Tribe Names
With the mindset set, five groups headed into their first challenges. Rock Wall, Initiatives, Flying Fox, Inflatables, Bag Blitz and Bush Challenge were all happening across the site, keeping everyone moving and making sure there was no shortage of action!
One of the highlights unique to Hartwell’s program was Tribe Identity.
All five groups came together to build the team identities they would carry with them throughout the rest of camp. With their Tribe spirit building and the competitive energy well and truly alive, it was time for dinner and some well-earned downtime.
The evening finished with GMICs (Great Moments in Camp) before the Hartwell team headed out onto the Walking Track.
It was the perfect way to wind down after a huge first afternoon and gave students the chance to connect away from the noise of the activities.
Day Two – Tribe Challenge & The Monster Course
Day Two was the big one!
The morning was packed with more activity rotations before every group came together for the Tribe Challenge in the afternoon.
With everyone competing together, the Tribe Challenge brought plenty of energy, teamwork and friendly competition to the day.
After changing clothes and grabbing a quick afternoon tea, it was time for the main event…
The Monster Course
Sprinkle Pony People set the pace, flying around the course in an incredible 8:34 to take the fastest time of camp.
Lady Gagas Henchman followed in 10:11, with The Vegemites rounding out the top three in 12:32.
Every Tribe threw themselves into the challenge, pushing through the obstacles and giving it everything they had.
With a massive day behind them, Night Two finished with a well-earned Movie Night.
Final Day – Bush Challenge & Tribe Votes
The final day brought the last activity rotations, Tribe Votes and another competitive challenge: the Bush Challenge.
The Tribes tackled the course with teamwork and determination, with Pink Fluffy Unicorns taking the top spot in 29:55.
The competition continued with Lady Gagas Henchman finishing in 31:23, followed by Sprinkle Pony People in 32:11.
The Tribe Chant brought another burst of competitive energy, with Tribes battling it out for points and plenty of team spirit.

- 10.5 pts – Pink Fluffy Unicorns
The Tribe Chant results were incredibly close, with two Tribes sharing third place on 12 points!

The Values Winners were recognised for leading from the front, supporting their teammates and embodying The Summit’s Five Keys across all three days.

These students showed what it means to live the Five Keys and help their Tribe shine throughout camp.
