The Year 12 students and teachers from ILIM College arrived at The Summit on Wednesday, 29th July, ready to embrace every challenge that lay ahead. After settling into their accommodation, the group gathered together in the Recreation Room, where they met the coaching team and officially kicked off an unforgettable few days of adventure, teamwork and personal growth.
Coach Spinks welcomed everyone before introducing the coaching team, who shared The Summit's recipe for the best camp ever, the Five Keys that would guide every activity and every challenge throughout camp.
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don't Go Home Wondering "What If"
Students were then introduced to the Target, Stretch and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy before putting it into action during a fun game of 50-Up. From there, they tackled a series of initiative activities that encouraged teamwork, communication and problem-solving right from the very beginning.
Activities & Tribe Names
The first day saw students take on a variety of activities that challenged both their courage and teamwork, including:
- Snowy River Challenge
- Summit Window
- Sky Bridge
Before heading into their activity rotations, students also worked through initiative challenges including:
- Key Punch
- Tiles
- Half Pipe
As the day came to a close, everyone was introduced to one of The Summit's favourite traditions: GMICs (Great Moments In Camp), where students recognised and celebrated the positive moments they noticed in others before enjoying the evening together.
Day Two — Intention & Monster Energy
Day Two began with a powerful Morning Intention session led by Coach Spinks, encouraging students to think about how they wanted to show up throughout the day. After a fun game of Jockeys to get everyone moving, the group headed into another full day of activities.
New challenges included:
- Jump Free
- Rock Wall
- Laser Skirmish
Throughout every activity, students continued stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting one another and putting the Five Keys into action.
The Monster Course
After lunch, it was finally time for one of The Summit's biggest highlights: the legendary Monster Course.
Working together through mud, obstacles and plenty of laughs, each tribe completed their first lap before discovering there was one more challenge waiting for them. The second lap tested everyone's resilience, determination and teamwork, with every single team improving by more than eight minutes. It was an incredible display of grit and perseverance from every student.
Final Day — Gratitude & Goodbyes
Although there were some tired faces on the final morning, the energy remained high. Coach Spinks led a Gratitude session, encouraging students to reflect on what they were grateful for, past, present and future, and reminding everyone to finish camp without going home wondering "What If."
After the final activity rotations, students gathered one last time to celebrate the incredible achievements and friendships built over the past three days.
Tribe Reflections & Tank Time
Each tribe voted for the teammate who best embodied The Summit's Five Keys throughout camp. These outstanding students were recognised in front of the entire group before earning a hot lap in The Summit's World War II Army Tank while their classmates cheered them on.
