    May 2025

    Back to blog

On a sun-drenched Wednesday afternoon , May 21st, 2025 , we were thrilled to welcome the Year 6 students and teachers from Langwarrin Park Primary School to The Summit for an unforgettable camp adventure!

Day One — Welcome, Teamwork & First Challenges

Upon arrival, students settled into their accommodation and made their way to The Lodge , where Coach Spinks greeted them with a big Summit welcome. Soon after, Fran introduced everyone to the Five Keys to making the most out of camp:

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’

With energy high, we launched into a group game of 50 Up , followed by a gear-up session with Milena and Lucy , who demonstrated how to safely wear harnesses and helmets. Sam then shared the powerful goal-setting framework called Target, Stretch & Super Stretch , helping students set realistic and courageous personal goals.

Before diving into activity rotations, campers took on a team initiative challenge to test their problem-solving and collaboration skills. From there, it was straight into an epic first round of Summit activities, including:

    • Laser Skirmish
    • Abseil
    • Snowy River Challenge
    • Inflatables
    • Flying Fox
    • Rockwall

It was awesome to see students embracing fear, building trust, and stepping outside their comfort zones right from the start. We wrapped up the day by introducing a much-loved camp tradition: GMICs (Great Moments In Camp) , a way to share and acknowledge the awesome moments we witnessed in each other.

Day Two — Intention, Monster Course & Muddy Victories

Thursday kicked off with a Morning Intention Session led by Sam , focusing on controlling what we can control, our focus, attitude, and actions , even if we can’t control the weather, other people, or every activity.

After a warm-up game of Jockeys , it was time to jump into three big activity rotations before breaking for a well-earned lunch.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for…

    The MONSTER COURSE!

Led by Lucy , Spinks , and the rest of the coaching team, students first got their energy up with a repeat-after-me chant of Big Star, Little Star . Then they tackled the famous Summit Monster Course , featuring mud, tyres, cargo nets, and laughter. Just as they thought it was over, they found out they were running it twice ! Every team rose to the challenge and showed amazing resilience , with all teams improving their time by 5 minutes or more !

Day Three — Gratitude, Pirates & Epic Finishes

Our final morning began with a gratitude session from Spinks , encouraging everyone to reflect on what and who they’re thankful for and to give their best in their final moments at camp. A rousing game of Pirates , led by Milena , got the blood pumping before the last two rotations of activities.

To wrap things up, each tribe voted for their Values winner , a team member who consistently lived out the Five Keys and helped make camp better for everyone. These legends were rewarded with the ultimate send-off:

A hot lap in The Summit’s WWII Army Tank , cheered on by their friends!

    Thank You, Langwarrin Park!

To all the incredible students, teachers, and parents from Langwarrin Park Primary School , thank you for bringing your enthusiasm, courage, and kindness to The Summit. You played all in, lifted each other up, and made memories that we hope will last a lifetime.

From all of us, Spinks, Sam, Mim, Fran, Milena, Lucy, and Lawrie , we wish you all the best for the rest of the year. We can’t wait to see you again!
