    Mooroolbark College Year 8Camp

    September 2026

    Back to blog

On Wednesday, 3rd September, The Summit welcomed the Year 8 students and teachers of Mooroolbark College, who arrived to calm skies, big energy and plenty of excitement for three epic days of adventure!

After settling in, the students were introduced to the Lodge: their home for meals, downtime and plenty of camp memories. Coaches Lucy, Simon, Spinks and Chris welcomed the group and introduced The Summit’s Five Keys, setting the tone for everything that was to come.

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering “What If”

Day One - Goals & Activities

With the mindset locked in, everyone headed down to the main park where Coaches Lucy and Simon delivered an important helmet and harness briefing. Coach Chris then introduced the Target, Stretch and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, a simple way to break challenges down, find achievable wins and keep pushing those comfort zones.

Then it was time to get into it!

The students kicked things off with a group initiative challenge, putting their problem-solving skills and teamwork to the test before launching into their first two official activity rotations.

    Across camp, the group tackled:

    • Giant Swing
    • Laser Skirmish
    • High Wire
    • Snowy River Challenge
    • Abseil
    • Sky Bridge
    • Leap of Faith
    • Inflatables

With the first day coming to an end, the students gathered for a quick wrap-up and last-minute questions before heading off to recharge for an action-packed Day Two.

Day Two – Intentions, Action & The Monster Course

Day Two began with Coach Lucy leading a session on the power of intentions and daily goal setting. Students took a moment to think about their intentions for the day before heading down to the park for a fun warm-up game of Rock Paper Scissors Chants.

Then it was time for three action-packed activity rotations!

With a change of activities halfway through the day, the teams got to experience even more challenges and plenty of opportunities to push themselves. After lunch, there was one final activity rotation before the group headed down to the Hub for the main event…

    THE MONSTER COURSE!

Students linked up with their teams, and raced around the course, catching things, pulling things, dodging things and, most importantly, getting very wet and muddy!

But just when they thought they had conquered it, the coaches dropped the news…

They had to do it again!

The winner wouldn’t be the fastest team. Instead, it would be the team with the best improvement time between their first and second laps.

The students showed incredible determination and resilience as they tackled the course for a second time. Every team stepped up, pushed harder and delivered an amazing second lap.

Tired, muddy and triumphant, the students headed off for some well-deserved hot showers and dinner.

Final Day – Gratitude, Jockeys & Going Out Strong

The final morning began with a meaningful Gratitude session led by Coach Chris, encouraging students to recognise what they have and appreciate the people around them.

Then it was time to get back into the park for one final day of adventure!

The crew took on Jockeys, battling it out in an epic showdown to find the overall champion before splitting up for their final two jam-packed activity rotations.

With one final push, the students took on their last challenges and gave camp everything they had.

    Tribe Reflections & Values Winners

As the final activities came to an end, each group was asked to choose a Values Winner: someone who had shown and lived The Summit’s Five Keys to the max and helped make their team shine.

These students represented the teamwork, courage, fun and positive attitude that made Mooroolbark’s camp such a memorable one.

🏅 And the Values Winners Are:

    • King Of the Hill – Jarvis
    • The Fishies – Levi
    • The Powerful Boys – Jai
    • The Moo Moo Club – Brayden

The group then gathered at the Stage for their final lunch, debrief and celebration before taking their final school photo and sharing some long-awaited competition results.
