When the buses from Scotch College rolled through The Summit gates on a cold but sunny Tuesday morning, we knew we were in for something special. The students arrived with infectious energy, huge smiles, and an eagerness to dive into the week, and we couldn’t wait to get started.

After settling into the Lodge, the coaching team introduced themselves and shared the five guiding values that would shape every activity, challenge, and moment:

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Uncomfortable
    5. Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’

We also introduced the concept of Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goals , encouraging students to step beyond what they thought was possible, one challenge at a time.

Tribe Time and the Monster Course

Before long, students formed their tribes and each group chose a name that represented them best:

    • Group 1 , Timmy’s Tribe
    • Group 2 , The Spice Girls
    • Group 3 , Anonymous Bananas
    • Group 4 , Temu Kardashians
    • Group 5 , Summit Superstars
    • Group 6 , K-Mart
    • Group 7 , The Goats

Their first major challenge? The Monster Course, a muddy, obstacle-filled loop around The Summit grounds involving tyres, sleds, charades, the ball pit, and (of course) plenty of mud. What students didn’t know was that there would be two laps, with the winner based on most improved time. Everyone gave it their all, but the champions of the course were none other than Group 6 , K-Mart!

The night wrapped up with an epic campfire, the perfect way to end a massive first day.

Wednesday: Intentions, High-Flying Fun, and Tribe Challenges

Wednesday began with a morning Intentions Chat, featuring wisdom from Kid President, reminding everyone that how you show up for yourself, and those around you, matters.

Then it was time to gear up in harnesses and helmets and hit the rotations! Students flew through the air on the Flying Fox, faced their fears on the Giant Swing, and worked as a team through the Snowy River Challenge and Initiative Games. The Scavenger Hunt and Orienteering had students running all over the park, while the Inflatables brought laughter and chaos in equal measure.

That afternoon, the tribes gathered back in the Lodge for a Tribe Challenge, testing their creativity, dexterity, and how well they knew each other. After a series of fun mini-games, it was the Spice Girls who claimed victory!

Thursday: Final Rotations & Rock Paper Scissors Showdown Thursday morning began with another reflection session about supporting each other and choosing the right mindset. The groups powered through their final rotations with determination and enthusiasm, finishing the day with a Summit classic: the Rock Paper Scissors Chant game, competitive, hilarious, and packed with team spirit.

Friday: Gratitude, Magical Creatures & Final Goodbyes

Friday was our final day together, and we started with a heartfelt talk about gratitude and finishing strong. Then, it was time for the final group challenge: Magical Creatures. Each tribe had to work together to help their “creatures” (a.k.a. our brave teachers and coaches in full costume) safely return to the stage while solving problems and supporting each other along the way. It was hilarious, chaotic, and packed with teamwork.

To wrap up the adventure, each group voted for a Values Winner, someone who consistently embodied The Summit’s Five Keys and made a difference for their team. These legends were rewarded with something truly unforgettable: a ride in our WWII Army Tank, complete with a car crush and cheers from their classmates!

    And the Values Winners Are:

    • Timmy’s Tribe , Aydn
    • The Spice Girls , Ed
    • Anonymous Bananas , Lance
    • The Temu Kardashians , George
    • Summit Superstars , Monty
