On a brisk Wednesday afternoon, June 18th, 2025, the Year 9 girls from St Francis Catholic College arrived at The Summit, buzzing with excitement. After their warm welcome, the students were shown to their accommodations to settle in, ready to take on a few days of growth, challenge, and unforgettable memories.
Once everyone gathered in the Lodge, Coach Spinks introduced the team and set the tone for camp. Then Adam revealed The Summit’s recipe for the best camp ever , a recipe made up of five key ingredients:
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
From there, we headed down to the Stage, where Matt and Lucy walked everyone through the helmet and harness safety brief, and Sam introduced the Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goal-setting strategy, a powerful tool to help students push beyond what they thought they could do.
Day One: Activity Rotations
Camp kicked off with two epic rotations of activities:
Rotation One:
- Abseil
- Snowy River Challenge
- Bag Blitz
- Rock Wall
Rotation Two:
- Giant Swing
- Snake & Nails
- Sky Bridge
- Laser Skirmish
Each group also came up with their very own Tribe Name, then settled in for the night with some helpful info about dinner, brekkie, free time areas, and an important camp tradition, GMICs ( Great Moments in Camp ), where students could write down and acknowledge the awesome things their teammates had done.
Day Two: Intention, Dance & The Monster
We started the day by discussing the power of setting a morning intention, and choosing to focus on the things we can control, especially at camp!
After heading down to the park, we fired up with a fun game of Huckle Buckle before diving into three more legendary activity rotations. Despite the mixed weather, the girls powered through, smashing goals and playing all in.
After lunch, it was time for one final rotation before the legendary Monster Course. To get pumped up, we danced our hearts out to Cotton Eye Joe and the Nutbush, and played some mini-games like:
- 50 Up , scoring an impressive 64 hits!
- Shoe Bowling , chaos and laughter guaranteed!
Then the countdown began. The Monster Course tested teamwork, strength, and resilience, but there was a twist: the winner wasn’t the fastest, but the team with the biggest improvement on their second lap. Inspired by the Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch strategy, every team gave it their all, pushing themselves over two mud obstacles and finishing strong.
After a big day, everyone cleaned up, enjoyed dinner, and settled in for one last night together.
Final Day: Gratitude & Goodbyes
The final morning began with a Gratitude Session led by Coach Spinks, inviting students to reflect on the people, moments, and things they’re thankful for.
A quick game of Jockeys warmed everyone up, and then the girls headed off to complete their final two activity rotations, finishing camp with energy, pride, and connection.
Before heading home, each tribe was asked to vote for the one person who best embodied The Five Keys throughout the entire camp experience. These four legends were rewarded with something truly epic, a hot lap in The Summit’s Army Tank, while the rest of the group cheered them on!
