On Wednesday the 17th of June, the Year 6 students and teachers from St Ita's Primary School arrived at The Summit full of excitement and ready for three days of adventure, challenge, and fun. After settling into their accommodation and exploring the Lodge, the group met their coaching team, Lucy, Spinks, Will, Summer, and Ant, who would guide them through an unforgettable camp experience. Together, they were introduced to The Summit's Five Keys, the foundation for making the most of every opportunity camp had to offer.

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    5. Don't Go Home Wondering 'What If'

    Day One: Adventure Begins

With the Five Keys in mind, the students headed down to the main park where Coaches Summer and Raelie delivered the helmet and harness briefing. Lucy then introduced everyone to Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch, a powerful goal-setting strategy that encourages students to step outside their comfort zones and find success in every challenge.

The groups then kicked off camp with an initiative challenge that put their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills to the test. Once the teams were working together, it was time to launch into the first official activities of camp.

    Activities & Tribe Names

Throughout their time at The Summit, students tackled: Abseil, Giant Swing, High Wire, Inflatable City, Bush Challenge.

Following their first activities, each tribe came together to create a unique identity. Teams designed flags, developed their own core values, and created energetic chants that would carry them through the rest of camp. The afternoon finished with each tribe proudly presenting their creations to the rest of the group before wrapping up an action-packed first day.

Day Two: Intentions, Teamwork & Monster Energy

Day Two began with a session on the power of intentions and daily goal setting. Students took time to reflect on how they wanted to show up throughout the day before heading out for a fun game of Rock Paper Scissors Evolution to get everyone moving and energised.

After three exciting activity rotations and a well-earned lunch, the students took part in an epic Tribe Challenge competition. Teams tested their teamwork through a variety of quick-fire challenges, including egg-and-spoon relays, hula hoop relays, tic-tac-toe relays, and even a newspaper fashion show that brought plenty of laughs and creativity.

    The Monster Course

With spirits high, it was time for the main event, The Summit's legendary Monster Course.

Each tribe took on the muddy obstacle course while connected to one particularly stubborn teammate: a tyre! Students raced through obstacles, carried equipment, dodged challenges, and embraced every muddy moment along the way.

Just when they thought they were finished, the coaches revealed the twist, they would be completing a second lap. The winning tribe wouldn't be the fastest team, but the team that improved the most between laps.

The response was incredible. Every tribe dug deep, encouraged one another, and pushed themselves to find another level of effort. The determination, resilience, and teamwork on display perfectly embodied the Five Keys, especially getting comfortable being uncomfortable and playing all in.

After a huge day of adventure, the students enjoyed hot showers, dinner, and a well-deserved rest before their final day.

    Final Day: Gratitude & Goodbyes

The final morning began with a Gratitude session led by Coach Lucy, encouraging students to reflect on the people, opportunities, and experiences they were thankful for. Inspired and ready to make the most of their final day, the group headed down for one last round of adventure.

After a lively game of Crane, Tiger, Egg, students completed their final activity rotations and gave everything they had right until the very end.

    Tribe Reflections & Tank Time

As camp came to a close, each tribe voted for the teammate who had best embodied The Summit's Five Keys throughout the three days. These students demonstrated courage, positivity, teamwork, and a willingness to give everything a go.

The Values Winners were celebrated by their peers and recognised for the impact they had on their teams and the camp experience as a whole.
