When the bus from St Michael’s Primary School rolled through the gates on Monday morning, we just knew it was going to be a camp to remember. From the moment the students stepped off the bus, their energy and enthusiasm had the place buzzing, and we loved every second of it!
We kicked things off in the Lodge, where our coaching team gathered with the group to introduce ourselves and share The Summit’s 5 Keys , the guiding values that would shape every challenge, every laugh, and every breakthrough:
The Five Keys
- Have Fun
- Play All In
- Make Lots of Mistakes
- Get Uncomfortable
- Don’t Go Home Wondering ‘What If’
After playing a few fun warm-up games and learning how to gear up in harnesses, we introduced the concept of Target, Stretch, and Super Stretch goals , encouraging everyone to set their sights high and step beyond what they thought was possible.
Jumping Into Day One
With harnesses on and goals in place, it was time to jump into the first set of activities, and they did not disappoint. Highlights included the Flying Fox, the High Wire, the ever-popular Rock Wall, and the team-favourite Bush Challenge. Students faced fears, overcame mental blocks, and achieved more than they imagined, some even surprising themselves with just how brave they were.
Later that afternoon, each group banded together to choose their team name, and let’s just say, the creativity was strong with this bunch:
- Group 1 , Donald’s Friends
- Group 2 , Braves
- Group 3 , The Pretty Princesses
- Group 4 , The Smurfingtons
That night, the group enjoyed a bushwalk under the stars, winding down after a big first day and preparing for even more fun ahead.
Day Two: Intention, Adventure, and The Monster Course
Tuesday kicked off with an Intention Session, featuring a video from the ever-wise Kid President, reminding everyone to set their focus and choose who they wanted to be for the day. The morning may have been chilly, but the excitement levels were sky-high and no one seemed to notice!
Students rotated through a new round of activities, including the thrilling (and slightly terrifying) Giant Swing, the dark and disorienting Cave Experience, the balance-testing Sky Bridge, and the high-energy Inflatable Course.
Then came one of the most anticipated events of camp: the Monster Course , a muddy, hilarious, action-packed race through tyres, charades, water pits, obstacle nets, holey buckets, and more! What the teams didn’t know? They’d be running it twice. The catch: the winner wouldn’t be the fastest, but the team who showed the greatest improvement from lap one to lap two.
While everyone smashed it, the clear champions of the day were… The Smurfingtons, monster course royalty!
Day Three: Gratitude, Reflections & Final Adventures
On Wednesday morning, we gathered once more for a gratitude session, led again by a message from Kid President. It was a chance to reflect on the people, pets, and moments we’re thankful for, and a reminder to carry that mindset into everything we do.
With full hearts and a final burst of energy, students took on their last two rotations, determined to make their families proud and finish strong.
Before saying goodbye, we asked each group to vote for their Values Winner , the person in their tribe who embodied all Five Keys and lifted others up along the way. These legends were rewarded with an unforgettable ride in The Summit’s WWII Army Tank, an epic finale for an epic camp!
And the Values Winners Are:
- Donald’s Friends , Nehron
- Braves , Roman
- The Pretty Princesses , Emily
- The Smurfingtons , Seb L
