    Back to blog

On the 22nd of July, the Grade 3 and 4 students and teachers from Willow Grove, Thorpdale and Narracan Primary Schools arrived at The Summit ready for an unforgettable adventure! After settling into their accommodation, everyone gathered in the Lodge where Coaches Timmy, Lucy and Spinks gave the group a warm welcome and set the tone for an incredible few days of challenge, teamwork and fun. From the very beginning, students embraced every opportunity to learn, encourage one another and step outside their comfort zones.

    The Five Keys

    1. Have Fun
    2. Play All In
    3. Make Lots of Mistakes
    4. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
    5. Don't Go Home Wondering "What If"

    Day One: A Flying Start

The adventure began with Timmy introducing the G.A.S. Principle, Give it a Go, test your Abilities, and Support yourself and each other, before Spinks shared The Summit's Five Keys to getting the very best out of camp.

After a helmet and harness demonstration, the group took on a fun game of Keepy Uppy with a giant yoga ball. With an initial goal of 20 touches and a crazy goal of 100, the students absolutely smashed expectations, reaching an incredible 183 touches!

    Activities & Tribe Names

Students tackled an initiative challenge that tested teamwork, communication and leadership before launching into their first activity rotations.

    Throughout camp, students experienced:

    • Bush Challenge
    • Flying Fox
    • Inflatables
    • Giant Swing
    • Rock Wall
    • Laser Skirmish

To finish the day, each tribe created their own flag and developed team values to live by throughout camp. The three tribe names were:

    • Fire Dragons
    • Grizzly Stars
    • Team Tanks

Students were also introduced to one of The Summit's favourite traditions, GMICs (Great Moments in Camp), where campers celebrate the courage, kindness and awesome moments they see in others.

Day Two: Intentions, Teamwork & Monster Energy

Day Two kicked off with a Morning Intention session led by Spinks, encouraging students to think about who they wanted to be and how they wanted to show up for themselves, their teammates and the day's adventures. After a fun game of Jockeys, everyone headed out for another exciting round of activity rotations featuring the Giant Swing, Rock Wall and Laser Skirmish.

Following lunch, the tribes got creative during the Vogue Fashion Show, designing newspaper costumes before proudly walking the catwalk to be judged by Timmy. It was a hilarious display of creativity, confidence and teamwork that had everyone laughing.

    The Monster Course

As the afternoon rolled on, it was finally time for one of The Summit's biggest highlights, the Monster Course!

Students tackled the muddy obstacle course without knowing there would be a second lap waiting for them. When the surprise was revealed, every team dug deep, worked together and pushed themselves even harder. The real challenge wasn't being the fastest, it was improving the most between laps. Every tribe rose to the occasion, with all three teams improving by more than four minutes, proving just how much can be achieved with resilience, determination and teamwork.

Final Day: Gratitude & Celebrating Success

The final morning began with another round of GMICs before Timmy led a Gratitude session, encouraging students to reflect on the people and opportunities they were most thankful for. After a fun game of Evolution, students headed out for their final activity rotations, making the most of every last moment at camp.

    Tribe Reflections & Tank Time

As camp drew to a close, each tribe voted for the teammate who best embodied The Summit's Five Keys throughout the adventure. These outstanding students were recognised in front of everyone before being rewarded with an unforgettable ride in The Summit's very own World War II Army Tank while their classmates cheered them on.
